English Learning Apps For Android Users

1) Learn English, Speak English

With features like; talking to a video character, automatic speech recognition & color-coded feedback on pronunciation, record & compare, topic based dialogue & unlimited practice and a lot more makes this app a must for every English teacher. Use of this app can change the way your students perceive education. The sessions can be engaging, fun and full of learning.

2) English Grammar Book

The app works like magic for those who want to get their grammar right! You’ll find topics from nouns, verbs, to passive voice and conditionals. Each topic is explained briefly in introduction, and then continued in detailed section explaining more types or rules. A beginner can get advantage from the rules that are presented in the form of tables, but the explanation comes in long conversational type of sentence that will bring perfection at the advanced level of learning.

3) Johnny Grammar Word Challenge

This app by British Council is a challenging way to improve your English. Answer as many questions, spelling and vocabulary in 60 seconds! The game is in 3 levels with 3 categories; words, grammar & spelling. Work on each area individually to score best! Earn badges as you play, share your score and compete with others on global leaderboard.

4) English Level Test

As its name suggests, this Android app helps users check their English level whether it is beginner, Elementary, Pre-intermediate, Intermediate, Upper-intermediate, Advanced and Near Native.

5) Irregular Verbs

This app is for people with European language as native language. It has translation in Russian, Italian, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Romanian and Ukrainian.

You have to choose one before using this app. Since this app focuses on the irregular verb, basically it only gives list of the three types of verbs. One plus is you also get the word in your chosen native language, so it’s like having a mini dictionary for verbs. There’s also the pronunciation of the verbs for you to listen.

The best feature is the training section where you’re given verb in the native language and you have to select the English verb for it. It’s more challenging because you could be asked any of the three types of verbs in random.

6) Listen & Speak

This app can transform the device into a teacher with the awesome features it provides. The app comes with a set of predefined templates of how words should be pronounced and understood. 

7) Fluent English

This is another great Android app for English language learners. It helps them improve both their speaking and listening skills. It is like an audio book and has audio translations of any word you do not understand. It also provides pronunciation in different voices.

8) PvP – Phrasal Verbs Program

This is a complete and useful phrasal verb dictionary that has over 400 verbs. It also lets users search any phrasal verb by word or meaning. Every phrasal verb is illustrated by examples showing how and when it can be used.

9) Carton – free English

This one helps learners learn new words through the use of word cards. Pictures are used to illustrate the meaning of the words. The app provides a fast, easy and fun way to learn and improve your English vocab. 

10) Reading Trainer

It improves the reading speed and retention rate with 12 challenging and fun exercises.

The app is specifically designed for all the Indian language speakers who wish to learn English. 12) LetterSchool Free

This multiple award-winning app is a must recommendation. Learn to write letters and numbers as they play four exciting games per letter

13) Learn English App

Learn English grammar and excel in spoken English. There are activities on this app to challenge your own English skills, get to know where you lack and work on it with this very app. 

14) English Tenses

All the information relating to the tenses are available on this app. Sections for practice are also there so that you can track your progress. 

15) Kids Learn to Read

This game includes 6 sections. Every section is aimed to let children enjoy the game and attain a successful learning experience at every step

16) LearnEnglish Podcast

This App by British council helps learners learn English speaking and listening via podcasts. Listen, read and check that you understand. One episode every two-week is uploaded in the app and a collection of 40 podcast already exist.

Listen to everyday conversations recorded by native British English speakers in our LearnEnglish Podcasts series, and improve listening skills. Listen to podcast hosts Tess, Ravi, Adam and Rob chatting with different people and talking about different everyday topics, such as their favorite celebrities, making plans for the weekend, having a dinner party and which cities they like to live in.

17) English Irregular Verbs

The app is ideal for beginners or children. The list of irregular verbs consists of more common verbs, but includes a clear voice pronouncing them. In practice game you simply have to choose the words to complete the three forms verbs. Again, the voice is very useful here. If you’re not interested in drilling the words, at least you’re still being able to learn the right pronunciation here.
