Everyone must see the value in the concept they embrace it.”

Tip #2

Education Leadership: Will Richardson at TEDxMelbourne

In this TEDx talk, Will Richardson talks about the shift that technology has brought in the education.

He says this shift is going to make everyone different and difficult question,

“What is the value of school in this technological era? We don’t really need school to do school if we define school in a traditional sense like I don’t need to send my kids to learn Spanish, I don’t need to send my kids to school to learn algebra.”

“I absolutely want my kids to go to school.”

“But if the value of school is that it is the place where kids learn to pass a particular narrow assessment, we have big problem. We have to think different what school is.”

He suggests few ways to pathways to get internet conversation.

  • We need to get speed up what is happening in this world. We have to understand the consequences of the shift from scarcity to abundance. The ways in which the technologies giving us opportunities to learn that were not possible five to ten years ago.
  • We have to figure out what we can do to model learning ways that make more sense that give out kids more opportunity to navigate the space where they can fully take advantage of the abundance that they have.
  • We need to articulate the idea that school have huge values, it is a place of learning equally collaborate, of critical thinking. It’s not about simply passing the test.

Tip #3

Professional Learning

Importance of school culture and what is the role that it plays in this digital learning transformation.

Kyle Pace: School culture is defiantly everything in comes of using technology successfully. It is the leaders establishing that tone.

We all have learning to do including the administrator and it speaks a lot, I think, it is the administrator that sits down next to the teachers and learn right alone with them. I think, this is the tremendous thing for the culture of the school.

Like this, the webinar covers much more things. Do watch it full.
