This infographic covers both pros and cons of usage of video games in school. Some exclusive advantages are as follows:

Critical Thinking:

Critical thinking, in its broadest sense has been described as “purposeful reflective judgment concerning what to believe or what to do”. As critical thinking is essential for learners, we can make them critical thinkers by engaging them with educational video games.

Educational Ingredients:

Comparative display: Leaderboards, ranks, badges, etc., stimulate social and emotional rewards that drive our sense of engagement and problem solving.

Collective Intelligence: Collaboration allows for the learning of soft skills, organization, and large-scale problem solving.

Difficulty: Non cognitive skills such as patience and discipline are developed in harder games.

Fun: Learning through playing.

Plot: Social features allow story telling and mission planning between friends and alices.

Attention grabbing: Increases the ability to compete.

The infographic says that there are numerous advantages and equal number of disadvantages too in using educational games but it finally concludes the fact that when used properly, video games give best results. You may refer to the below infographic for a pictorial representation.
