EdTech Unicorn Unacademy has acquired Handa Ka Funda, a Jaipur-based online coaching platform for various competitive exams.
With the acquisition, the Bengaluru-based EdTech major has onboarded Ravi Handa, a prominent educator for CAT and other MBA entrance exams, on its platform.
Founded by Ravi Handa, an alumni of Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, Handa Ka Funda is an online coaching platform for various entrance exams like CAT, XAT, IIFT, SNAP, etc. and for various bank exams like IBPS and SBI PO. The platform helps students prepare and crack the exams with the help of video tutorials, live classes, e-books, solved examples, and a huge question database.
Handa Ka Panda commenced teaching online in 2012, and the platform claims that more than 20,000 students have used its online courses till date from over 50 cities in India.
While there was no any official press release coming out from both the companies on the latest development, Handa took to his official Twitter handle on March 23 and announced about it in a tweet.

He further tweeted saying “We will be doing a live session...to discuss the change and what it means for our students and CAT aspirants.” Ravi reportedly said in the live session that Unacademy will help his platform reach more students and help them achieve their aspirations.
According to a report by Livemint, who first reported the development, Handa will provide live daily classes on YouTube for CAT aspirants and aims at reaching at least 1 lakh students via the free content. It said that students will also have the option to subscribe to Unacademy’s Plus courses.
Meanwhile, the acquisition of Handa Ka Funda will strengthen Unacademy’s leadership position in the MBA test preparation market.
Unacademy has been on an acquisition spree. The latest is the company’s 8th acquisition in the past 12 months. Just last month, February 2021, the EdTech major had acquired a majority stake in TapChief, a professional networking and future-of-work platform. Unacademy had earlier acquired Delhi-based online exam preparation platform Kreatryx in April last year, CodeChef in June, Chandigarh-based medical prep platform PrepLadder and a majority stake in Mastree – a K-12 learning platform – through a strategic investment of $5 million in July, UPSC test prep platform Coursavy in September, and NeoStencil in December. The company had also in January this year onboarded prominent Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering educator Ravindrababu Ravula as an exclusive teaching partner on its platform.
