As part of the initiative, the platform will offer courses related to Industry 4.0 to help individuals, manufacturing companies, service & technology providers and governments adapt to the new technological advances. Furthermore, it intends to equip beneficiaries with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in the Fourth Industrial Revolution and enable manufacturing companies to stay ahead of the curve and drive sustainable growth by leveraging the latest technological innovations.

Currently, the scope of UNITAR programming is genuinely worldwide, with an outreach encompassing the entire United Nations membership and over 300,000 individuals benefiting annually from delivering about 900 training and related events. The Institute’s programming has never been more diverse, with a wide range of learning and other types of events covering multilateralism, economic development and social inclusion, environmental sustainability and green development, sustainable peace, and research and technology applications.

UNITAR said in a press statement: The online learning platform will be launched on the 29th of September, and we will share more about it during our webinar on “Industry 4.0 Learning Framework for Sustainable Development” that will take place on the same day, the 29th of September at 2 pm CET. This webinar also educates the global manufacturing community and all public and private stakeholders about the importance of Industry 4.0 (IR4.0) for the next stage of sustainable development. Throughout this webinar, we will explore the following themes:

  • Discuss the importance of IR4.0 for the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs);
  • Introduce a Global Learning Framework that encompasses all elements of IR4.0 and;
  • Present the 1st Industry 4.0 Education Platform and the collaboration between UNITAR and Smarterchains to bring it to the manufacturing community, representing 14% of the Global GDP.

UNITAR was established in 1963 to provide young diplomats from newly formed UN Member States with the information and abilities to manage the diplomatic environment. The Institute has developed unique knowledge and experience in planning and conducting various training activities. It has established itself as a leading institute in providing customized and innovative learning solutions to institutions in the public and private sectors.

SmarterChains believes in a better, agile and integrated manufacturing ecosystem—an ecosystem where expertise is democratized and knowledge shared among inter-connected partners. The company aims to create innovative & sustainable factories. Its team joins forces every day, leveraging technology and data to constantly develop its platform to help manufacturers strategize towards Industry 4.0.
