Delhi University (DU) and Hiroshima University (Japan) have recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the University of Delhi. This partnership aims to foster international cooperative research initiatives with global universities. During the signing ceremony, DU registrar Vikas Gupta and Hiroshima University executive vice-president Shinji Kaneko exchanged official documents. According to an official statement, Gupta emphasized that the primary goal of this MoU is to establish a mutually beneficial partnership between the two universities based on friendship.

The Memorandum of Understanding highlights various areas of collaboration, such as joint research efforts and the exchange of faculty, academic staff, and graduate and post-graduate students. The agreement also includes exchanging research findings, scholarly publications, and other relevant educational information.

Hiroshima University is a national research university that was founded in 1949 in Hiroshima, the world’s first atomic-bombed city. The University strives to contribute to developing Japanese and international society by leading the world in top-tier research and educating talented and innovative individuals. It provides a valuable experience for its students by capitalizing on academics such as natural sciences, humanities, and social sciences while administering general studies, unique, specialized courses, and extensive opportunities for extracurricular activities.

In addition, the universities plan to implement various academic and educational exchange programmes conducive to their collaborative efforts. The duration of the MoU is set for five years, with the possibility of renewal upon mutual agreement between the parties, contingent on an evaluation of accomplishments and ongoing relevance, the statement added.

The University of Delhi is the country’s premier University, with a venerable legacy and international acclaim for high academic standards, diverse educational programmes, distinguished faculty, illustrious alumni, a wide range of co-curricular activities, and cutting-edge infrastructure. The University has maintained the highest global standards and best practices in higher education over its many years of existence. In accordance with its cultural ideal of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,’ the University aims to foster the all-round development of students through a multi-faceted education and sustained engagement with local, national, and global communities, as well as to nurture lifelong inspired learners from around the world.
