Banaras Hindu University (BHU), recognized for its academic excellence and innovative approach to education, has announced the launch of 22 courses on the SWAYAM platform for the January 2025 session. The initiative aligns with contemporary and traditional academic themes to offer a holistic learning experience.

BHU’s SWAYAM courses offer various programmes, providing innovative learning opportunities for students, professionals, and lifelong learners. The offerings range from Machine Learning and Ancient Indian Architecture to Income Tax, Gender Studies, Tabla Playing, Human Resources, Services Marketing, Research Methodology, and Investment Management.

Dr Ashutosh Mohan, Coordinator of BHU SWAYAM, highlighted that BHU’s esteemed faculty have thoughtfully designed the courses. It covers various topics, from Indian Knowledge Systems, Finance, Law, and Agriculture to Machine Learning, Tourism, Culture Studies, and Life Skills. The programmes, ranging from 4 to 12 weeks, cater to a broad audience, including students, working professionals, and lifelong learners.

The courses, which begin on January 20, 2025, provide a unique opportunity to explore contemporary and traditional academic themes. Exams for all enrolled courses will be held in April 2025. Interested students can register using the SWAYAM portal.

SWAYAM is an initiative designed to achieve the three cardinal principles of education policy, namely access, equity, and quality, highlighting the organization’s dedication to inclusive education. This initiative aims to provide the best teaching and learning tools to everybody, especially the most disadvantaged, thereby bridging the digital divide for students who have previously been unaffected by the digital revolution. The courses offered by SWAYAM are free of cost to students, emphasizing that quality education is not a privilege but a right. Those pursuing a SWAYAM certification can register for the final proctored exams cheaply, making the platform available.

Banaras Hindu University is an internationally renowned temple of learning established in the holy city of Varanasi. This innovative and creative university was formed in 1916 by the great nationalist leader Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya, with the assistance of outstanding people such as Dr Annie Besant, who saw it as the University of India. The University family includes approximately 15,000 students from all walks of life, castes, religions, and races, approximately 1700 teachers, and nearly 8,000 non-teaching staff. Many students from foreign countries such as the United States, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa come to study here. It has assumed a leading position in encouraging new ideas, the spirit of global integration, and intellectual and cultural development.
