Our memory is an extremely important part of the learning process. We can improve its potential, but note that one’s memory is not a magic wand. It must be shaped and molded so that we can reap the benefits. To achieve great results, hard work is required.

To make the most of your exam revision techniques , you need to understand that the process is not a cramming session before an exam. Prior consideration and knowledge are required to be able to grasp new material. Therefore, a correct and clear memory trace can’t come from a poorly unstated concept.

Schedule planning

Studies have shown that a well-organized schedule can be an excellent learning tool. However, not all students are fond of alarm clocks and study hours. How can you revise for an exam if you’re not committed enough? It’s perfectly true that social media and advanced technology can interfere with your revisions, but with a bit of willpower you can succeed. Learn how to use technology to your advantage . Rather than download the latest Angry Birds game and play for several hours, why not download a Schedule Planner to set up a learning program for your next exam?

E-learning strategies

When we want to relax or do something exciting, we use the internet. During an exam revision session we see computers as our worst enemy. Technology distracts us and there’s no denying about that. Yet, is can also help us achieve great things. The internet puts at our disposal a plethora of online courses that will help us understand our syllabus better. As long as we don’t allow social media and games to interfere with our work, things we should be just fine. An iPad is extremely practical when we want to read and write at the same time. E-learning methods such as online tests and study guides can really help us improve grades and complete a study session without feeling overly stressed.

Stay in touch with your colleagues

Students have various learning tools at their disposal, including electronic instruments such as instant chatting like Gmail and Skype to help them stay in touch with their colleagues. This way, they have the possibility to share their concerns, ideas, and thoughts in order to bear scary exam sessions. Most universities provide chat rooms where students are free to talk about all sorts of projects, possible test subjects and even about their homework.

The fun use of technology

Prior to opening a computer, iPad, or laptop to study, block your Facebook and Twitter pages. It’s the only way you can concentrate. Now let’s get down to business. One of the most engaging ways to revise for an exam is to make use of PowerPoint . The program is extremely easy to use (and yes you have, even if you don’t know that; it’s part of Microsoft Office) and with just a click of a button you can make a live slideshow with some of your study guide’s most important matters. PowerPoint can be replaced with flashcards. It’s simpler and a lot more entertaining. To make your study session even more interesting, ask a friend to do the same and switch presentations.

Apps that help us study

Whether you own an iPhone 5 or an iPad, there are great apps you can use to study. For example, iStudiez Pro is an excellent application that can help you manage a hectic schedule. It’s the ideal virtual assistant because it allows students to track lectures, due dates, and course loads. You can also sort out your assignments and prioritize them. Wikipanion, Vocabulary.com, Dictionary.com are equally important. They’re extremely practical, not to mention that they’re free to use.

If we had the power to change the educational system and take out all exams forever, we would do it. Students hate them and there’s no doubt about that. However, exams are not destined to trick students; they’re extremely useful because they give them the opportunity to prove they’re knowledgeable. Also, their aim is to shape the student and prepare him for real life challenges. Mark Zuckerberg didn’t create Facebook playing Solitaire on his computer, so you might want to think about that before you ditch your next important exam.
