In January 2021, Renaissance Learning announced the National Online Reading Competition 2021. The competition invited Indian schools and students to explore and enjoy a wide range of literacy content, practice reading, compete with peers, and develop a reading habit.

The competition was entirely online, organised using myON Reader – a state of the art product by Renaissance Learning that offers literacy solutions globally.

First, we want to thank all the principals and schools who applied for the competition. We saw a great interest with 400+ applications. It was tough to select only 30 finalists out of such esteemed schools. It has been incredible to see students find their hidden English potential and build their communication skills in a fun and competitive manner through this competition.

With 30 schools and 2000+ students competing for five days, judging wouldn’t have been simple if it wasn’t for “myON Reader”. myON Reader helped us set up the competition, giving access to reading material for each student. It also allowed us to keep track of each student as they read books and progressed through the competition.

myON Reader helped us assess students’ literacy levels, skills, vocabulary, and communication skills to track the winners.

Congratulations to all the winners:

myON Reader also gave the schools the capability to see each student’s learning curve, insights and even identify weak areas. The data tracked by myON Reader during this competition also indicated students discovering their love for reading and hidden potential.

Prizes

The winners will receive two tablets each for their school libraries, myON Reader licenses for 100 students for 100 days, and certificates.

The National Reading Competition 2021 was built around the concept of personalised and blended learning models. It also resonated with NEP 2020’s vision of building 21st Century skills with modern tools available 24 x 7 with the internet’s help. It demonstrated the impact and effectiveness of both personalised and blended learning concepts on teaching and learning using educational technology.

The impact of a tool like myON Reader in a school environment can be phenomenal.

If you aren’t already using myON Reader in your school, reach out to us!

Even if you did not make it to the finals, be assured that all your efforts are highly valued! Your response has been overwhelming, and we appreciate all that you have put in.

Keep on exploring our beautiful world, learning, and writing and next time, you can be among the winners!

Thank you to everyone who supported the competition.
