The E&ICT Academy at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has partnered with AlmaBetter, a worldwide educational technology platform backed by Kalaari. This collaboration aims to provide advanced Full Stack Data Science, AI, and Full Stack Web Development certifications. According to an official announcement, the E&ICT Academies is a collaborative initiative involving the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the Government of India, and several IITs and NITs.

The E&ICT Academy at IIT Guwahati has crafted and endorsed the curriculum. Learners enrolling with AlmaBetter will receive an additional Advanced Certification from E&ICT Academy at IIT Guwahati, granting them access to a globally recognized standard of education accredited by IIT. Upon completing this certification, learners can add a prestigious IIT endorsement to their resumes, significantly enhancing their career prospects.

AlmaBetter, established in 2020 by five IIT-educated founders, is an AI-driven tech upskilling institute that helps students develop modern-day technology professions. The company’s “Competency-based Learning” initiative challenges traditional schooling by focusing on AI-powered outcome-based learning. The startup aims to give students a risk-free education and assist them in realizing their full potential.

Commenting on the partnership, Gaurav Trivedi, Principal Investigator, E&ICT Academy, IIT Guwahati, said:

E&ICT Academy was introduced to enhance the employability of tech students and working professionals in our country. Our partnership with AlmaBetter makes it easier for us to reach more students nationwide. This partnership marks a huge step ahead as we offer tech learners the best education and employability skills.

AlmaBetter hopes to boost this figure by at least 30% with this collaboration, democratizing technology education and making it widely affordable and easily accessible to computer enthusiasts and professionals nationwide. According to the statement, all students interested in IIT-certified programmes can now access a global curriculum through a flexible manner of learning centred on career goals and access to AlmaBetter’s esteemed network of 700+ hiring partners.

Shivam Dutta, Co-founder & CEO of AlmaBetter, commented:

It is a significant milestone in our journey as we continue our mission to bring a global standard of tech education to our country’s capable students who otherwise cannot access or afford the finest tech education. This partnership enables us to further our mission at a faster pace.

AlmaBetter claims to have recorded a 92% placement rate in the last three years. Earlier in July, AlmaBetter had launched AlmaBetter Innovarsity and allocated Rs 50 crore to the Innovarsity fund to enhance learner experience, bring global standard education and offer merit-based scholarships across programmes. The organization plans to allocate 50% of this fund towards scholarships for its programs in partnership with E&ICT Academy, IIT Guwahati.

Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, the sixth member of the IIT fraternity, was established in 1994. The academic programme of IIT Guwahati commenced in 1995. At present, the Institute has eleven departments, seven inter-disciplinary academic centres and five schools covering all the major engineering, science, healthcare, management and humanities disciplines, offering B.Tech., B.Des., M.A., M.Des., M.Tech., M.Sc., MBA and Ph.D. programmes. IIT Guwahati has built a world-class infrastructure for advanced research and is equipped with cutting-edge scientific and technical instruments in a relatively short period. The Institute has met the ambitions of people in the North East region to a large extent since its founding in 1994, in addition to its honours in teaching and research.
