BibliU, a UK-based EdTech firm that helps students achieve better results by giving access to etextbooks and courseware, recently announced the acquisition of Texas Book Company, a Texas-based industry leader in delivering learning materials to higher education institutions across the United States.

The deal’s value, however, was not disclosed.

This deal expands on BibliU’s pioneering digital-first Universal Learning service, an equitable access (E.A.) programme that provides college students with cost-effective day-one availability of course materials. Texas Book Company’s exceptional record for delivering campus store services allows BibliU to expand Universal Learning further into Universal Learning Plus, a combined offering for campus store management and digital content delivery.

Along with this acquisition, BibliU is expanding its digital-first portfolio by introducing an Inclusive Access (I.A.) approach. Both models are designed to provide affordable digital course materials on day one. Institutions will now have the flexibility to choose an access programme that best fits their needs.

Commenting on the acquisition, David Sherwood, Co-founder & CEO of BibliU, said:

BibliU and Texas Book Company have a shared purpose. We built our business to make the higher education system fairer, more accessible, and more inclusive. With its strong stewardship and deep history in U.S. higher education, Texas Book Company has built a trusted brand aligned with those principles.

Sherwood further added:

We are delighted to welcome Texas Book Company to the BibliU family and look forward to our innovative future together,” Together, we can better connect our ecosystems to deliver even more compelling products and services for students, faculty, and administrators, enabling better learning outcomes.

BibliU provides a learning enablement platform that empowers higher education institutions to streamline their textbook and courseware workflows to achieve student outcomes, affordability, and social mobility. With the platform, colleges and universities can finally deliver on the promise of digitalization, guaranteeing all students have first-day access to the learning content they need. This acquisition significantly enhances BibliU’s ability to provide that mission, allowing it to expand its delivery models, geographic reach, and technological innovation while ensuring the superior customer service Texas Book Company and BibliU are known for.

Brent Dyer, Founder & CEO of Texas Book Company, stated:

BibliU and Texas Book Company have a long-standing working relationship to build innovative combined delivery solutions. This acquisition is the next step in our shared vision of driving more significant student outcomes, affordability, and social mobility across the US

As a long-standing member of the academic community, Texas Book Company offers unequaled college store management expertise, service excellence, and financial strength. Unlike other educational retailers, the platform gives its bookstore partners immediate access to top management and a prompt reaction from Company decision-makers. Its store products and services are focused on the diverse educational and personal needs of students, faculty, administrators, alums, and campus visitors.
