Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) recently unveiled a full-time two-year Postgraduate Diploma in Management [PGDM] programme in artificial intelligence (AI) and data science. As per the official announcement, the programme aims to provide an amalgamation of AI and data science technology with Management subjects in various domains, to promote engagement between industry and academia at both the national and international levels, and to establish a group of Management professionals with a combination of technical expertise, analytical capabilities, and effective decision-making abilities.
According to the Institute, students who complete the PGDM will be qualified to work on AI projects in fields such as finance, education, automotive, retail, entertainment, cybersecurity, and sustainable conservation, as well as other verticals such as managing financial portfolios, developing and deploying smart logistics systems, and creating recommender systems for e-commerce, among others.
Commenting on the latest development, Director of BIMTECH, Harivansh Chaturvedi, said:
In India, demand for AI and Data Science professionals is expected to exceed 1 million by 2024. There is a 51% gap between demand and supply for such professionals. Experts predict that by 2030, there will be a 31.4% increase in jobs related to Data Science and mathematical science, mostly AI-based.
This initiative aims to develop visionary leaders capable of applying AI-driven strategies to real-world business challenges. The programme’s comprehensive approach, which integrates theoretical foundations with hands-on experience, ensures that graduates have the agility and expertise needed to navigate the dynamic AI landscape.
