Information and Resources are in abundance over the Internet and to use them effectively, we must know of ways to organize them. There are several services that help you do so and IFTTT is one of them.

It is a service that helps users to connect various popular web applications like Dropbox, Evernote, Weather, etc altogether using simple conditional accounts called “Recipes”. Here are some basic terms ofIFTTT:

Channels: Channels are the basic blocks of IFTTT.  Some of the examples are Facebook, Email, Evernote, Weather, LinkedIn, etc.  Each channel has its own actions and triggers.

Triggers: Some of the examples of triggers are “I’m tagged in a photo on Facebook”.

Actions: Some of the examples of the actions are “create a status message on Facebook”, “send me a text message”.

Ingredients: Some of the ingredients of Channel Email are received date, subject, body, attachment and the sender’s address.

IFTTT (If This, Than That) is a wonderful tool to organize and curate information and resources.  Here are some of the recipes that might be useful for you.

RSS to Email Formatted: With this recipe, you can have use RSS feed of various website and get the latest content sent to your email id. In fact, you can also put filter which type of content you want to have and whenever latest content is added in that category. This is a wonderful recipe for those who always do real-time research.

Save Twitter Favorites to Evernote: Using this amazing recipe, when you favourite tweet on twitter, all the content goes to the notebook, specified in Evernote. Once it is on the Evernote, you can search it easily. In fact, you can send those favourites to the Google Spreadsheet also.

Fitbit To Anything: Fitbit recipe is the best way to keep track of the fitness goals.

Weather To Anything: Weather is a wonderful recipe that is helpful in getting all the information about the weather and sending it to the Google spreadsheet.

Convert PDF and put it to Evernote: This recipe appeals you if you use pocket snippets from all over web.

Save new watch later YouTube videos to Pocket: This recipe will help you to find new You Tube video that you want to see later. You can make a trigger to add watch later videos.

If new Facebook photo, save to Dropbox: You can use this recipe, if you wish to have backup all your online images of Facebook. This recipe will automatically save Facebook images in the DropBox.
