Google has introduced an innovative new AI tool, ‘Learn About’, which aims to revolutionize how users learn about various topics. The tool, launched as an experimental platform, presents educational content in a more interactive and visually engaging manner than typical AI-powered assistants like Gemini or AI Overviews.

The Learn About AI tool is currently available to a select group of users in the United States. It assists them in achieving their learning objectives by providing a conversational and multimedia-driven learning experience. It is built using Google’s LearnLM large language model (LLM), which differs from the company’s other models like Gemini. LearnLM was unveiled during Google I/O and is designed with a focus on educational and research data. The newly introduced tool aims to offer responses grounded in reliable learning sources, enhancing the user experience by tailoring content in a way that matches how people learn.

Unlike Google’s other AI offerings, Learn About delivers answers in a highly visual and interactive format, combining text with images, articles, and videos from educational websites. This method helps users dive deeper into the material by offering additional related content. For example, when tested by The Verge, the tool displayed images and videos to support its responses, unlike Gemini, which quoted sources like Wikipedia. The tool also avoids AI “hallucinations,” where AI models may provide misleading or fabricated information.

The platform also provides interactive guides that assist users in comprehending complex topics. These guides allow users to explore concepts, gradually building a more profound understanding systematically. Additionally, the tool helps users identify and avoid misconceptions commonly associated with specific topics, enhancing the learning process.

Although the Learn About tool is still more of an experiment than anything else, it may revolutionize the way students and people in general use social networks and the Internet to learn new things and complete their tasks. Unlike other AI tools in use today, it adopts multimedia content to expand on theories while halting the use of hallucinations.

Learn About is a new perspective on learning and interacting with information while having great access to up-to-date advanced AI technology. This tool was developed by Google.

In a related development, Google unveiled a new Utilities extension for the Gemini app. This update allows Gemini AI assistant to control many smartphone features such as alarms, timers, audio settings, and cameras, providing a new dimension to Android-powered smartphones.
