iHub Anubhuti-IIITD Foundation, a leading Technology Innovation Hub (TiH) specializing in Cognitive Computing and Social Sensing, and Medanta Institute of Education and Research (MIER), a not-for-profit entity dedicated to healthcare research at Medanta (Global Health Limited), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to foster collaboration in medical and healthcare innovation.

The MoU was formally signed by Mr. Vinay Mehta, Chief Executive Officer, iHub Anubhuti, and Dr. Shoibal Mukherjee, Director, Medical Research, Medanta, in the presence of other dignitaries from TiH, MIER, and IIIT-Delhi, signifying the commitment of both organizations to work towards advancing healthcare technologies and fostering impactful research collaborations. This partnership formalizes the organizations’ shared vision of collaborative growth through joint research initiatives, knowledge sharing, and skill development to unlock opportunities at the intersection of healthcare and technology.

Speaking about the collaboration, Prof. Ranjan Bose, Chairman, iHub Anubhuti and Director IIIT-Delhi, said:

Combining iHub’s expertise in cognitive computing with Medanta’s leadership in medical research, the collaboration will focus on joint research, knowledge exchange, and skill development. This partnership lays the foundation for impactful advancements in healthcare, promising a future of transformative on-ground solutions and cutting-edge translational research.

Key objectives of the partnership include:

  • Promote joint research activities and projects involving faculty members, scientists, and clinicians.
  • Share knowledge and advice to plan and execute programmes promoting excellence in respective areas of research and education.
  • Both organizations will promote academic exchange through guest lectures and programmes, encouraging faculty members, scientists, and clinicians to share their expertise across institutions.
  • Enable students and research staff to participate in academic events at both institutions, including lectures, seminars, workshops, and conferences.
  • Provide shared access to library resources and research materials for all members of both institutions.
  • With faculty approval, students, clinicians, and staff can visit the partner institution for short research stays.

Dr. Shoibal Mukherjee, Director of Medical Research at Medanta, echoed this sentiment, stating:

In the age of advanced digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and robotics, medical science can only progress if there is close collaboration between medical and computational scientists. This partnership will seek implementable solutions to medical problems in both hospital and community settings.

The Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, developed iHub Anubhuti as part of the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS) to spearhead cutting-edge research in cognitive computing and health technology. The Foundation aims to provide a thriving ecosystem in India for research, development, and entrepreneurship in the area of ‘Cognitive Computing & Social Sensing’ and collaborate with Industries, Ministries, and Startups to develop technological solutions that can address short-term and long-term societal needs.

Vinay Mehta, CEO of iHub Anubhuti, also highlighted the importance of this partnership, saying:

This MoU brings two leading and committed organizations together to work together for the betterment of the country’s healthcare ecosystem. Our efforts will not only lead to the development of new Indigenous technologies but also measurably improve patient care and give a boost to the healthcare industry in general.

Medanta Institute of Education and Research brings a wealth of medical and biological research expertise. Working with Medanta’s flagship hospital in Gurugram and a network of tertiary-care multi-speciality hospitals across India, the organization focuses on clinical and translational research to bring transformative healthcare solutions into medical practice.
