The Ahmedabad-based EdTech startup said it will use the fresh capital to upgrade the technology stack of the learning platform, while also creating more courses in different languages to engage more students.

Launched in January 2020 by husband-wife duo Niral Modi and Aditi Modi, LearnVern offers job-oriented courses in vernacular languages, allowing students to learn any course for free in their own language. The startup claims to currently have more than 5.5 lakh registered students on its platform learning over 50 different courses spanning across domains like software development, information technology, graphic design, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, and digital marketing among others.

LearnVern believes that students learn the most difficult concepts easily when explained in a language they most understand and with images, examples, and practical insights. The startup claims its courses are taught by experts in their field and have perfect examples with lots of practical insights.

Commenting on the development, Niral Modi, Co-founder, and Chief Executive Officer, LearnVern, said,

“At LearnVern, we are excited about the funding – it comes at a time when we are looking to scale and reach out to over four crore students studying in colleges across India. India’s newly launched National Education Policy 2020 talks about vocational education and vernacular as the two most important transformational changes, which we had envisioned as the requirement of India’s students and launched our solutions to meet the need.”

Stating that its vision is to offer a vernacular learning platform where students can learn for free – at their pace, and in their preferred language, the co-founder added that its new technology enhancements will enable video conferencing, peer-reviews, forums, and other features that will deliver an immersive experience to students on the platform.

According to Niral, the company is also looking to deploy AI-based tools to ensure students get matched to an employer’s job requirements after completing their course.

LearnVern is currently working with more than 500 large and medium employers to enable direct recruitment.
