Kreedo Early Childhood Solutions, a Bengaluru-based startup that provides end-to-end solutions to transform early learning delivery in schools, has raised $4 million in a Series A round led by Singapore-based Heritas Capital and existing investor UBS Optimus Foundation. Other existing investors, such as Gray Matters Capital, 1Crowd, The Chennai Angels, The Joka Angel Network, and others, participated in the funding round.

According to the company, the funding will enhance product offerings and expand into new geographies in India.

Kreedo was founded in 2012 by husband-wife duo Mridula Shridhar and VK Manikandan, both alumni of IIM-C, to change the quality of education delivered in affordable private schools and preschools in the early years. The platform partners with affordable private schools and preschools and aims to transform learning delivery in the early years. Its unique 6T learning framework is an innovative model centred on the Kreedo Activity Labs, which offers a structured environment for play-based learning, incorporating elements like toys, technology, theory, teacher training, a timetable, and teamwork to ensure high learning outcomes for children aged 3 to 8 years, in line with the NEP 2020 guidelines.

Speaking on the fundraising, Mridula Shridhar, Co-founder of Kreedo, said:

With the current round, we will take Kreedo to more geographies in India. With incoming demand from our school partners, we also plan to expand our product offerings to Grades 3-5 and enhance Practico, our digital home learning platform. We will also be scaling our specialized pre-primary teacher training franchise programme that will create a pool of job-ready qualified teachers for Kreedo partner schools and the early education market in general. All these initiatives align with our overarching goal of democratizing and changing the early education landscape in India.

The startup claims that over the last two years, it has seen significant growth, doubling its revenue, expanding its reach from 700 to 1700 schools/preschools and increasing the number of children benefiting from its programmes from 55,000 to more than 1,40,000.

Chik Wai Chiew, CEO and Executive Director of Heritas Capital added:

With the new funding, we look forward to supporting the founders alongside like-minded impact investors in empowering affordable private schools and training teachers to implement activity-based learning and better classroom management for enhanced learning outcomes. Kreedo’s track record and innovative growth plans will catalyze broader community efforts to enhance the future lives and livelihoods of generations of children across India.

Kreedo plans to extend its product offerings to grades 3-5 and enhance Practico, a digital home learning platform. It will also scale a specialized pre-primary teacher training franchise programme that will create a pool of job-ready qualified teachers for its partner schools and the early education market in general.
