LeapScholar, an end-to-end study abroad platform, has announced the launch of two new hybrid master’s degree programmes in collaboration with Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), one of the leading private research universities in the United States. According to an official announcement, LeapScholar claims to provide Indian students the opportunity to pursue CWRU MS in Biomedical Engineering and MS in Mechanical Engineering programmes in a hybrid format at a reduced cost, building on their current cooperation.

The Nature Index ranks Case Western Reserve University, one of the top 50 universities in the United States, 18th in the world for its contributions to innovation. As part of this initiative, students will complete part of their coursework online in India and attend the remaining classes on CWRU’s campus in Cleveland, Ohio. Depending on currency conversion rates, this hybrid format will cut the overall cost of the MS in Biomedical Engineering programme by up to 30% (about USD 20,556 or INR 17 lacs) and the MS in Mechanical Engineering programme by up to 30% (approximately USD 20,556 or INR 17 lacs).

Case Western Reserve University’s research and educational possibilities in the arts and sciences, engineering, health sciences, law, management, and social work enable its students, faculty, staff, and alums to tackle today’s most challenging problems—and shape the future. Today, the University boasts strong partnerships across Cleveland that benefit its students and the city. Health sciences students, for example, gain hands-on experience caring for community members through clinical experiences at Cleveland Clinic, Louis Stokes VA Medical Centre, MetroHealth Medical Centre, and University Hospitals. In contrast, art history students attend classes and contribute to the understanding of works at the Cleveland Museum of Art.

Speaking about the newly launched development, Co-founder of Leap, Vaibhav Singh, said:

The interest in hybrid master’s programmes is increasing among Indian students, and our expanding partnership with CWRU strengthens our commitment towards making more programs available at an affordable cost. The two new MS programmes will create world-class opportunities for those pursuing international careers in Biomedical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.

Furthermore, the traditional prerequisites of GRE scores and English language tests have been removed, making these programmes more accessible. Additionally, both programmes received the STEM designation, allowing students to qualify for a three-year post-study work visa upon completion, similar to full-time international students, as stated in the statement.

Venkataramanan “Ragu” Balakrishnan, the Charles H. Phipps Dean of the Case School of Engineering, commented:

On the tails of a successful launch for the Masters in Computer Science hybrid program, we are excited to expand our programming by extending this innovative model to our Mechanical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering programs, allowing even more students to earn a master’s degree from the Case School of Engineering while residing in India during their first term. CWRU continues to reinforce its presence in India, furthering the delivery of high-quality education to all students.

The fall session for Biomedical and Mechanical Engineering starts online in August 2024. Applications for both programmes will open in early 2024 for Indian students. The deadline for applications is July 28, 2024.

The founders of Leap Scholar believe in the talent and potential of Indian students to thrive in outstanding careers overseas. Only in the last decade have so many Indian students raised the bar in academia, research, and multinational enterprises worldwide. It truly understands that education is not only the greatest equalizer but also the springboard for everyone’s success and prosperity. The company supports future leaders from India in pursuing education at the best worldwide schools. Its team of world study specialists and student advisors assist students at every step of the journey and engages substantially in its students’ success, from choosing the right University to helping with application and financing guidance to scheduling job interviews.
