Mondelez India has announced an alliance with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to empower India’s youth through skill development, building on the company’s decade-long commitment to community development through the Shubh Aaramb programme. The company has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with NSDC to empower 660 young individuals across six unique job roles in the districts of Bhind (Madhya Pradesh) and Pune (Maharashtra).

The programme will include Short Term Training (STT) using Qualification Pack (QP) led training modules specifically designed for job roles in IT-ITeS, Management, Logistics, and Tourism & Hospitality. It will include soft skill training, skill orientation on respective job roles, tools, work methodology, assessment, certification, and job opportunities. The initiative will be tailored to the local context and aligned with the needs of the youth in the identified Bhind and Pune locations.

Mondelez International, Inc. (Nasdaq: MDLZ) enables people to snack right in over 150 countries. The firm is leading the future of snacking with iconic global and local brands such as Oreo, Ritz, LU, Clif Bar and Tate’s Bake Shop biscuits and baked snacks, as well as Cadbury Dairy Milk, Milka and Toblerone chocolate.

Commenting on this collaboration, Ophira Bhatia, Senior Director, India & Lead, AMEA, Corporate & Government Affairs at Mondelez International, stated:

We are excited to embark on this transformative journey, enabling young individuals to acquire essential skills and become valuable contributors to our nation’s workforce. This initiative aligns with Mondelez India’s commitment to fostering a brighter future for the communities we serve, and we are excited to see how this transpires for the youth of the country. We couldn’t have asked for a better partner than NSDC to help us fulfil this mission.

Mondelez and NSDC are confident that this partnership will make a meaningful impact on the lives of the youth, opening up new horizons of opportunity through skill development and job readiness.

Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO of NSDC, added:

Community development programs like the Shubh Aaramb programme enable us to address specific regional needs while aligning local industries with the demands of the job market, thereby stimulating economic growth. I firmly believe that by providing skill training to local youth in Bhind and Pune for job roles in sectors like IT-ITeS, Management, Logistics, and Tourism and hospitality, we can significantly enhance their employability and empower them to actively engage in resolving local challenges, instilling a sense of ownership and community pride. After all, only by empowering our youth can we take a critical step towards advancing the well-being of our nation, both locally and on the global stage.

The National Skill Development Corporation aims to catalyse the development of a large and high-quality vocational training ecosystem in India. Since its inception, the company has trained over three crore people in various sectors through partnerships with training partners across India. It has established 37 Sector Skill Councils (SSCs). It oversees implementing the government’s flagship skill development programmes, such as the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) and the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS). By providing concessional loans, other innovative financial products, and strategic partnerships, NSDC enables private-sector capacity building in skill development.
