OdinSchool, a data science and full stack development upskilling platform that delivers live online, 24-week part-time programmes, has formed a strategic partnership with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). This collaboration, according to an official statement, intends to restructure tech upskilling by providing learners who finish OdinSchool’s data science and web programming courses with co-branded certifications recognized by NSDC, proving their expertise.

The agreement seeks to standardize tech upskilling in high-growth areas to build a competent professional workforce. OdinSchool graduates can now get national government-endorsed certifications straight from the NSDC portal, increasing their legitimacy and job opportunities. Furthermore, the alliance fosters ‘women empowerment’ by offering specific scholarships to women, addressing both the gender gap and the competence gap in business, as stated in the statement.

According to National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) research, India is expected to need more trained personnel in various sectors. This shortage is estimated to be between 103 million and 109 million trained professionals.

The Indian IT industry is grappling with a significant skill shortage, with an estimated scarcity of over 1 million skilled IT personnel. This skill gap can have significant ramifications, including a possible impediment to the overall growth and competitiveness of India’s IT industry. Upskilling programmes, educational reforms, and industry-academic cooperation are all required.

Speaking on the partnership, Vijay Pasupulati, Chief Executive Officer of OdinSchool, said:

OdinSchool’s collaboration with NSDC is a significant step in closing India’s expanding talent gap, especially in emerging IT sectors. One of OdinSchool’s remarkable impacts is its ability to upgrade jobs, particularly for individuals from non-technical backgrounds, thanks to tailored programmes and guidance. The school’s industry-aligned curriculum and expert instructors from renowned companies like Walmart, BOSH, Infosys, IBM, FedEx and JP Morgan ensure students are readily deployable to projects.

NSDC, a nodal skill development agency working under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, is a one-of-a-kind Public Private Partnership (PPP) that aims to catalyze the creation of a large and high-quality vocational training ecosystem in India. It also supports businesses, corporations, and organizations that provide skill training. By providing concessional loans, other innovative financial instruments, and strategic alliances, the organization enables private-sector capacity creation in skill development.

As OdinSchool and NSDC embark on this transformative journey, they are set to make a lasting impact on India’s tech landscape, ushering in a brighter and more dynamic future for technology enthusiasts, the statement further added.

OdinSchool, as an upskilling platform, works closely with the industry to develop individuals who can be easily deployed to projects and address the skill gap. The entire programme, from curriculum design to pedagogy and outcomes, addresses the present industry’s needs. Industry veterans teach students at OdinSchool from businesses such as Walmart, BOSH, Infosys, IBM, FedEx, JP Morgan, and others.
