Well, to put this common problem to an end, Rhode Island-based GoPeer has come up with the perfect solution and is making high-quality tutoring accessible for all students through its platform.

Founded in 2017, GoPeer allows families to connect with qualified college students who are available to tutor. It enables families to find college undergraduates for in-person tutoring lessons for K-12 students. GoPeer integrates technology with a near-peer education model to provide jobs to college students, logistical help to parents, and academic mentorship to students. Through Skype or FaceTime, students meet their local, college-age tutor in the next-generation digital classroom and get personalized, effective, and collaborative tutoring lessons online. The platform currently has more than 4400 users.

How GoPeer tutoring platform works

GoPeer makes high-quality tutoring accessible for all students. The working of the platform is very simple and easy. One can log on to its website, search a subject, contact a tutor who suits the needs and learning style of the child, and then can schedule the session. Currently, GoPeer has made 70 subjects available on its platform for personalized learning.

Why GoPeer for your child’s tutoring?

There are many benefits for using GoPeer’s online tutoring platform. Below are some of the features that make the platform unique among other tutoring platforms:

Effective: Tutors are passionate about sharing their knowledge

Convenient: Save time and easily fit lessons into your schedule

Relatable: Peers that have aced your students exact class

Affordable: 1/3 the national average cost

Verified: Vetted and curated peer tutors

GoPeer has recently closed an oversubscribed $265K funding round participated by Deborah Quazzo, managing partner at San Francisco-based GSV AcceleraTE and Slater Technology Fund. One of the founders, Ethan Binder, has reportedly said that the majority of the funds will go toward spreading awareness and establishing marketing endeavours for the company.

Needless to mention, this isn’t the first financial move for the company. It is reportedly said that the founders put $50,000 into the startup during its inception, and received $20,000 from two Rhode Island angel investors in 2018. Founded two years ago, GoPeer graduated from a host of area accelerators, including the Social Enterprise Greenhouse’s Impact Accelerator program, MassChallenge Rhode Island and MassChallenge Boston, who introduced the startup to their network of mentors and to learn from their expertise and insight.

No more a student, but love to learn. Not a teacher, but care about how students are taught. Not an educator, but want everyone to be educated. Not a social worker, but desire to see change. Not a reformer, but always want to see a better world. The author believes that only sound education can bring a better future, better world and technology can help achieve a lot in this field.
