Teachy, a Brazil-based AI-powered education platform, has recently announced that it has raised $7 million in a Series A funding round, one of the first AI-focused investments in the “Global South” – LATAM, Asia, Africa. The round was led by Goodwater Capital, the world’s largest consumer tech-focused VC firm with partners known for investments in Monzo, Zepto, Weee!, Facebook, Spotify, and Twitter. Reach Capital, the leading early-stage investor in learning, health and work, also participated in the round with existing investors Endeavor, NXTP, and Roble Ventures. This marks Goodwater and Reach Capital’s most significant investment in the Brazilian education sector.

Founded in 2022 by Pedro Siciliano, a former teacher and Stanford MBA graduate, and Fábio Baldissera, an engineer and entrepreneur, Teachy provides teachers with an AI-powered workspace to simplify lesson planning and grading tasks. Its tools are aligned with local curriculums and aim to address challenges like digital connectivity, helping schools in regions such as Latin America and Asia adapt to the growing role of AI in education.

Speaking about the company, Pedro Siciliano, Co-founder and CEO of Teachy, said:

Our dream is to enable any teacher in any developing country to deliver the same high-quality education as the best schools in wealthy parts of the world through technology. Teachers change the world—we are here to help them in their mission.

With this funding, the company plans to enhance the product, drive growth, and support regional expansion by hiring engineers and designers to scale Teachy’s world-class platform.

Esteban Sosnik, Partner at Reach Capital, emphasized the platform’s focus on developing regions:

We see a unique opportunity in Teachy to change the lives of teachers across Latin America and beyond. We’re excited that Teachy builds specifically for the developing world, with features like paper grading and college entrance exam prep at its core.

Coddy Johnson, Partner at Goodwater Capital, also commented:

Teachy is a revolutionary platform for teachers and students to engage in personalized learning. We believe it could transform educational outcomes around the world.
