The 100,000-Student Classroom

Peter Norvign a computer scientist lectured a classroom on artificial intelligence. The lecture was attended by 175 students in situ and over 100,000 via an interactive webcast. In “The 100,000-Student Classroom“,TED talk, he is sharing what he has learned about teaching from global classroom.

According to him, “Students learnt best when they’re actively participating. We wanted to engage them to have them, grapple with ambiguity and guide them synthesized the key ideas themselves.”

Further sharing his experience, he said, “from teach of America, I learnt, a class is not primarily about information more important is motivation and determination. It is crucial that students see that we’re working hard for them and they’re all supporting each other.”

Ring on the learning revolution!

Ring on the Learning Revolution is TED talk by Sir Ken Robinson. In this TED talk, he discussed that education systems need more than just reform. Fundamental innovation is needed rather than improving a broken model. He further added, “We are enthralled by the factory approach to education, which assumes, and values, modes of production and behavior that are limiting and outdated.”

He further added, “I think we have to change metaphors. We have to go from what is essentially an industrial metaphor of education, a manufacturing model, which is based on linearity and conformity, and batching people. We have to move to a model that is based more on agriculture. We have to recognize that human flourishing is not a mechanical process, it’s an organic process, and you cannot predict the outcome of human development. All you can do is, like a farmer, is to create the conditions under which they will begin to flourish. “

What we are learning from online education?

In this TED talk, what we are learning from online education?, Daphne Koller- an educator is appealing top universities to put their most interesting courses online for free.  

In this talk, Coursera founder Daphne Koller forwarded her view, said, “Online education can be made better by the huge amount of data being collected on how students perform. However, when you analyze what is being said the future doesn’t look so bright.”

Changing Education Paradigms

In this TED talk, Changing Education Paradigms, Sir Ken Robinson establishes the link amid three worrying trends: schools’ dwindling stake in the arts, rising drop-out rates, timely talk for teachers and parents, and ADHD.

He started the talk with a thought, “Every country on this earth at the moment is reforming public education. There are two reasons for it- first, economy. People try to watch out, how do we educate our children to take their place in economies the 21st century, given that we can’t anticipate what the economy looks like at the end of the week.”

Teaching Kids Real Math with Computers

In this TED Teaching Kids Real Math with Computers talk Conrad Wolfram express the share of math we teach — calculation using hand — isn’t just boring, it is typically inappropriate to the real mathematics as well as the real world. Mr Wolfram presents his fundamental idea on teaching kids math by using computer programming.

Let’s use video to reinvent education

In this video, Let’s Use Video to Reinvent Education, Salman Khan- the founder of Khan Academy talks about reasons behind the foundation of Khan Academy, a wisely organized series of learning videos providing comprehensive curricula in math and, now, in other subjects as well. He demonstrations the influence of interactive exercises, and ask teachers to flip the old-style classroom script. He also asked teachers to give video lectures to their students also ask them to watch the video at home, and do “homework” in the classroom.

The TED talk Let’s Raise Kids to be Entrepreneurs Cameron Herold says “bored in school, failing classes, at odds with peers: This child might be an entrepreneur.” In the conversation, he makes the circumstance for education and parenting that assist would-be entrepreneurs to flourish.
