Former teacher, Erik Palmer, shared his insights on the lost art of speaking in education and the methods to unlock potential from students all around the U.S. Palmer is a professional speaker and educational consultant from Denver, Colorado, whose passion for speaking has been part of every one of his careers.
He spent 21 years in the classroom in the Cherry Creek School District in Englewood, Colo., primarily as an English teacher but also as a teacher of math, science, and civics. Palmer’s latest book, Teaching the Core Skills of Listening & Speaking, looks at speaking and listening through the lens of the Common Core State Standards. Palmer is the author of Well-Spoken: Teaching Speaking to All Students and Digitally Speaking: How to Improve Student Presentations with Technology and a program consultant for Houghton Mifflin Harcourt’s English Language Arts program, Collections.
