Outschool, the leading online learning platform focused on providing academic and interest-based classes for children, has recently unveiled its groundbreaking AI Teaching Assistant. This innovative tool aims to assist teachers in generating comprehensive progress reports for their students, streamlining administrative tasks and promoting better communication with parents or caregivers. By leveraging the power of OpenAI’s technology, the firm is revolutionizing how progress reports are generated in the education industry.

Outschool has partnered with OpenAI, a prominent artificial intelligence research laboratory, to develop the AI Teaching Assistant. This integration comes with its fair share of excitement and apprehension within the educational community. Concerns about potential cheating and plagiarism have been raised with the launch of OpenAI’s ChatGPT in 2022. Nevertheless, many educators recognize the potential of AI in facilitating administrative tasks.

The AI Teaching Assistant is designed to help teachers save valuable time by automating the process of writing progress reports. Tutors enter critical bullet points into the AI system after each learning session, describing the student’s performance and successes. In addition to basic information, the AI provides extensive paragraphs summarising the student’s actions and progress. Tutors can select a descriptive or a brief message, providing creativity and flexibility.

Melanie Pauli, an experienced piano teacher who joined Outschool in 2020, beta-tested the AI technology. She discovered that writing a few lines took less than five minutes, allowing her to spend less time on administrative work between lessons. According to Pauli, direct communication with parents via the AI Teaching Assistant develops a sense of involvement and engagement, ultimately leading to higher customer satisfaction and retention.

Outschool has entered the arena of one-on-one tutoring alongside the launch of the AI Teaching Assistant, establishing itself as a direct competitor to widely recognized organizations such as Varsity Tutors, Tutor.com, and Preply. This strategic move comes when online tutoring is experiencing a boom in popularity despite the COVID-19 pandemic. Forecasts indicate that the market could reach a whopping $23.73 billion by 2030, highlighting the enormous potential in this area.

The company’s AI Teaching Assistant represents a substantial advancement in progress reporting. Teachers can now easily prepare detailed progress reports using AI technology, saving significant time and improving communication with parents. Furthermore, its development into one-on-one tuition places the platform at the forefront of the online tutoring sector, capitalizing on its enormous growth potential.

Outschool, which began operations in 2015, provides a wide range of engaging, small-group classes online. Unlike traditional classrooms, the platform courses allow children to delve deeply into their hobbies through interactive, live videos by professional, independent educators. Currently, the organization provides over 140,000 live online classes to over 1,000,000 learners in 183 countries worldwide. It offers employee benefit programmes and collaborates with community organizations of all sizes, including public, private, and charter schools. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Outschool became essential for families who wanted to keep their children studying, socializing, and pursuing their interests.
