In collaboration with the UNDP Knowledge Project, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Turkmenistan is joining the FutureSkills4All Initiative to enhance youth employment opportunities by providing learning and skill development opportunities for young people and women in Turkmenistan. This initiative is carried out within the framework of the country component for Turkmenistan of the regional project “Promoting sustainable communities to prevent violent extremism (PVE) in Central Asia”, funded by the Government of Japan and implemented by UNDP in Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Turkmenistan.

This effort will reach at least 660 young people from Turkmenistan. They will have access to the industry-leading online learning platform Coursera, where they can undertake a variety of training programmes to acquire in-demand job skills. Beyond accessing online courses tailored to their interests, learners will also receive guidance and mentorship from local experts to enhance their coping skills and build resilience.

The FutureSkills4All Initiative stands out for its personalized learning experience, offering three distinct core areas: Transferable Skills (such as communication and problem-solving), Entrepreneurial Skills (including business planning and marketing), and Hard/Technical Skills (specific to various industries). This unique approach allows learners to tailor their training to their specific interests and career goals, ensuring a truly individualized learning journey.

In addition to the core areas, participants can explore a range of topics and acquire specialized skills, such as globalization, economic growth, artificial intelligence, foundational digital skills, accounting, marketing, human resources, IT support, cloud computing, UX/UI design, cybersecurity, project management, renewable energy, sustainable cities, and more. Each pathway is structured to suit different expertise levels, allowing learners to build the competencies required to succeed in their chosen fields.

To register to participate in FutureSkills4All, UNDP offers the following methods:

Third-Party Nominations: Government agencies, non-profit organizations, socially oriented private companies, civil society organizations and other partner organizations are invited to nominate young people who will take advantage of this online learning opportunity. Interested ones can fill out the forms to receive information about available training options and the application form. By completing the application form, organizations can:

  • Assign each nominated student to a specific program of study;
  • Nominate students for the program without choosing a particular path. In the latter case, nominated students will be emailed an online application, allowing them to choose the educational path that best suits their interests and qualifications.

Direct Registration: Turkmenistan’s young people aged 16 to 35, including women, can directly enrol by completing the online application.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Turkmenistan, being a long-term and fully trusted strategic development partner of the country, works tirelessly to support Turkmenistan in addressing a wide range of complex development issues pertaining to democratic governance, environment and energy, and human development. UNDP works in 170 countries and territories to eradicate poverty and reduce inequality. The organization helps countries develop policies, leadership skills, partnering abilities, institutional capabilities, and resilience to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
