A notable finding from the research is that students frequently opt for dual courses. Approximately 40% of respondents expressed interest in pursuing a dual degree simultaneously, citing benefits such as better career prospects and broader skills development. Sharing thoughts on these insights, a College Vidya spokesperson commented:

Our research reflects a clear shift in how Generation Z approaches higher education. Students today seek educational experiences that combine academic rigour with practical, industry-relevant skills. Dual degrees offer a unique opportunity to combine theoretical knowledge with practice-oriented learning and prepare students for the dynamic challenges of today’s labour market.

The spokesperson further stated:

We have seen a significant increase in demand for dual degrees on our platform, with 14.6% of students currently pursuing a regular degree also considering an online degree to complement their academic journey. This trend underscores the growing recognition of dual degrees as a path to versatile career opportunities and continuous learning.

In support of this trend, the University Grants Commission (UGC) actively promotes dual initiatives to empower students to enhance their educational experiences. By combining related or unrelated subjects within the same discipline, students can receive integrated and advanced education while exploring different interests.

Regionally, Mumbai, Delhi, and Kolkata emerge as frontrunners in adopting dual degree programmes, reflecting a nationwide trend towards flexible and comprehensive educational pathways. With demand projected to escalate further in the coming years, institutions such as College Vidya are poised to play a pivotal role in shaping higher education’s future.

As GenZ continues to prioritize flexibility, skill development and career readiness in their educational pursuits, the rise of dual degrees and online learning represents a transformative shift in higher education paradigms, meeting the dynamic aspirations of today’s students.

About College Vidya

College Vidya, founded in 2019 and located in Noida, has achieved remarkable achievements due to its exceptional team of visionary founders: Mayank Gupta (Co-Founder and CEO), Rohit Gupta (Co-Founder and COO), and Sarthak Garg (Co-Founder and CMO). Mayank Gupta, who is genuinely committed to students’ professional development, recognized the need to challenge the industry’s existing sales-focused approach. With this guiding principle in mind, the business started, creating an open system that provides students with accurate and realistic information on a wide range of schools and programmes, pointing them toward various viable career options.
