With a keen focus on the mobility sector, this collaboration is set to explore and develop breakthrough technologies that could revolutionize the industry. The scope of the partnership extends to joint R&D projects, academic and professional events, and facilitating exchanges of researchers and students. The partnership also enables both parties to share lab facilities, advise research students, obtain co-funding, publish papers, and protect intellectual property.

Prof Ramgopal Rao, Vice Chancellor of BITS Pilani, expressed the institution’s unwavering commitment to promoting innovation and excellence in research and education. He highlighted

The MRA with Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India as a significant step in this direction. The partnership, leveraging MBRDI’s corporate experience and BITS Pilani’s academic competence, aims to make ground-breaking discoveries that will benefit not just the institutions but also society at large. This commitment to providing the best possible chances for researchers and students to work on innovative initiatives and create answers for pressing problems is a testament to the bright future of technology research.

The agreement, which aims to improve digital capabilities in the nation’s talent pool, will allow for increased industry-academia engagement between the two organizations and expedite research initiatives. The research areas will include electric transportation, disruptive technologies like generative AI, and software development, emphasizing data and AI. Under this partnership, several noteworthy initiatives are already underway, overseen by Professors Poonam Goyal, Amit R. Singh, and Navneet Goyal.

Manu Saale, Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India, emphasized the crucial role of collaborations between industry and academia in tackling the complex challenges the industry faces today. He stated:

The synergy between industry expertise and BITS Pilani’s academic prowess is a driving force towards a future of sustainable innovation. At MBRDI, the commitment to creating a culture of continuous learning and development for talent is unwavering, and this collaboration will enable enormous opportunities for scaling from idea to innovation, ensuring a bright future for the talent pool in the technology sector.

With a decade-long legacy, BITS Pilani has evolved into a multi-campus entity, serving as a hub for innovation and academic brilliance. It aims to train young men and women able and eager to create and implement such ideas, methods, techniques, and information. Over the years, BITS has provided the highest quality technical education to students from all over India who are admitted based on merit. Its graduates can be found worldwide in all engineering, science, and commerce areas. The institute symbolizes the maturing of Indian technical ability and the “can-do” entrepreneurial spirit, mainly derived from the private sector.
