The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) and AIIMS New Delhi have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish the ‘AIIMS-IITM collaborative platform’, aiming to revolutionize medical research and healthcare innovation through a centre of excellence for medical research at both institutions.

According to an official statement, Krishna Chivukula, an IIT-Madras alumni and founder of Indo MIM Technology, donated Rs 228 crore to his alma mater. The funds will support fellowships for top BTech students, sportspersons, international students, and faculty members conducting high-risk research. It will also assist the monthly publication of the institute’s magazine, Shaastra, given to students.

The Ministry of Education took a significant step by unveiling the NIRF 2024 rankings. These rankings, a testament to the quality of education in India, saw AIIMS Delhi maintaining its top position in the Medical category. Notable changes included an updated faculty-to-student ratio and new parameters based on sustainable development goals. The top five medical colleges’ rankings have remained consistent since 2023, and the number of categories has increased from 13 to 16.

The Bharatesh Institute of Technology in Belagavi has taken a significant step by signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the Belagavi Startup Association. This partnership is a boon for BIT students, providing them with the support and resources they need to innovate and embark on entrepreneurial ventures. Startups will benefit from this collaboration, gaining access to workspace, interns, and industry exposure, thereby enhancing learning experiences through internships and workshops.

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras is known nationally and internationally for its excellence in technical education, basic and applied research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and industrial consultancy. The institute’s outstanding reputation has been primarily attributed to its illustrious faculty, bright and driven student body, first-rate technical and support staff, and efficient administration.
