Home From College (H\FC), the next-generation career platform, has made a significant stride in its growth journey with a $5.4 million seed round led by GV (Google Ventures). With a strong presence on campuses across all 50 states and a reputation as a leader in the college career space, the company is poised to expand its product offerings. The additional funding will enable Home From College to cater to people starting their careers and to bolster its team in the areas of sales, marketing, and product development.

Home From College, founded in 2021 by Julia Haber and Kaj Zandvliet, stands out in the market by offering companies unparalleled access to the Gen Z generation. The platform, headquartered in Los Angeles, California, provides students with a unique opportunity to search and apply for flexible jobs. These jobs range from one-day projects to ongoing roles that align with their location, interests, and developing abilities. It serves as a student’s initial source of revenue and a gateway to exploring new roles and enhancing resumes.

Speaking about the platform, Julia Haber, Co-founder and CEO of Home From College, said:

Since our launch in 2021, we’ve seen tremendous organic growth and product adoption among young professional communities we care about. Home From College has blossomed into a powerful resource, and it’s just scratching the surface of what it can offer. We are excited to have support from GV and our clients as we further our mission and reinvent professional tools for the next generation.

The firm has become a trusted platform for notable companies such as Poppi, Aquaphor, Thrive Market, Peacock, Steve Madden, and hundreds more seeking a fresh approach. Its solution makes it easy for brands to review, contract, manage, pay, and even source long-term hires for freelance work, content creation, ambassador programmes, product testing, and internships. Marketing support is a common interest among brands and students alike.

Commenting on the fundraising, KJ Sidberry, Partner of Google Ventures, said:

Home From College is a first-of-its-kind destination for young people, driven by the founding team’s vision to build a comprehensive and dynamic marketplace that meets the needs of today’s professionals beyond what legacy platforms provide. We’re excited to support Julia Haber, Kaj Zandvliet, and the Home From College team as they transform the talent and hiring landscape, providing new opportunities for young professionals to connect with the brands they love.

One of the most influential consumer groups entering the workforce with significant buying power is Gen Z, also known as the first “digital native” generation. By 2030, they are expected to make up 30 per cent of the US labour force, or about 50 million jobs, so there is an excellent chance for businesses to engage with this age group.

In the last three years, Home From College has raised $6.9 million and experienced a 300% increase in annual revenues.
