Corrsy, an EdTech startup with Finnish and Iraqi roots, has raised $500,000 in a pre-seed funding round led by EQIQ, a venture capital firm founded by Mohamed Al-Hakim. Notable investors participated, such as Finnish EdTech angel investor Risto Vahanen, SuperChargers Ventures EdTech accelerator, Durubi Management Holding Company, Jordanian angel investor Adel Qahwaji, and Finnish investor Pekka Hermonen. With its innovative learning solutions, Corrsy is set to transform the educational landscape and offer a beacon of hope for a brighter future.

Founded in 2019 by Mustafa Salam, Corrsy aims to address educational challenges in Iraq and the broader SWANA region. The platform delivers the highest quality of academic content through a gamified mobile application to unleash student learning success while decreasing school dropout of teenagers in the Middle East.

Since its inception, Corrsy has achieved remarkable growth and impact. The company launched its first product in 2022, and students in Iraq have downloaded the app over 500,000 times. It stands out as the first in the MENA region to integrate gamification, storytelling, and micro-learning into its mobile game app, providing students with an engaging and effective learning experience.

Speaking on the fundraising, Mustafa Salam, Founder and CEO of Corrsy, said:

We are thrilled to have the support of esteemed investors from across the globe – including Finland, Iraq, the MENA region, the UK, and other international backers – who share our vision of transforming education in the MENA region. This funding will enable us to be on the way to capturing the largest market share in Iraq and scaling our services to other markets. We aim to provide everyone with a mobile device, internet connection, and high-quality education at a very cost-effective price so they can pass national exams, learn for life, and enjoy the learning process.

Mustafa Salam’s vision for Corrsy is deeply personal, shaped by his experiences during the Iraq armed conflict. His mission, born from significant hardships including the loss of his father and displacement, is to leverage technology to positively impact education and society. This personal connection to the mission of Corrsy makes it more than just a business venture, but a heartfelt commitment to make a difference.

With this new funding, Corrsy is poised to expand its reach and bring innovative educational solutions to more students across the MENA region, contributing to a brighter future through education.
