HireMee, an AI-powered talent assessment and hiring platform, recently announced that it has joined the US-based Rockefeller Foundation’s Global Mentorship Initiative (GMI) to bridge the gap between graduation and first career jobs for young graduates from diverse communities in India.

The GMI programme connects students with mentors who provide guidance and business skills to prepare them for the job market after graduation, enhancing their employability quotient. With over 5,000 mentors in 120 countries, GMI’s mentors come from leading organisations like Microsoft, LinkedIn, and Genpact.

HireMee started as a social enterprise to help students from tier II & tier III cities get hired via assessment tests and skill scores and by connecting them with suitable recruiters, thereby democratising the freshers’ recruitment process. This initiative empowers students from all backgrounds and regions, with the services provided at no cost to both students and recruiters. Today, it has emerged as an awardee company with a mission to prepare the workforce for the future and enhance youth employability. It helps recruiters with everything from providing pre-assessed and interview-ready candidates, faster screening and better matches through quick video profiles to customised tests and talent management.

Commenting on the initiative, Venkatraman Umakanth, SVP and Head of HireMee, stated:

Our partnership with GMI will select HireMee-assessed youth to be mentored by volunteers from top global brands and enhance their employability quotient.

The MoU between GMI and HireMee will free the GMI Programme for youth nationwide.

HireMee has announced an outreach programme for students in the last two years of their undergraduate course and between the ages of 20 and 25 years to take up its free employability assessment. For students enrolling in the GMI programme, there has been a significant 37-point average increase in career confidence and skills after mentorship (from 53 to 90). This remarkable improvement underscores the initiative’s effectiveness in preparing students for their careers. The success stories of 74 per cent of student mentees globally who had a job within six months of graduating, and 82 per cent of the respondents who credited the GMI programme for their success, inspire hope and confidence in the initiative’s potential.

Jon Browning, CEO of Global Mentorship Initiative, added:

We are delighted to make the Global Mentorship Initiative (GMI) programme available to the youth across India and further enhance their employability.

HireMee has helped over 720,000 talented small-town youth get assessed at no cost and connect them with big and small companies that value diversity and inclusivity.
