The event drew participation from more than 280 senior high school students from more than 55 institutions across Bengaluru and posed a wide range of programming challenges to teams of amateur developers. India is the second market outside the US where CodeWars has been conducted.

“To remain competitive and to continue growth globally in the IT Industry,India will need a workforce that is accomplished in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) disciplines,” said Antonio Neri, senior vice president and general manager, HP Enterprise Group. “HP Code Wars supports our goal of developing tomorrow’s engineers and innovators and contributes to our vision to support technology careers in India.”

HP Code Wars events that took place at HP campuses combined the high-tech HP environment with programming challenges that tested participants’ development software knowledge and skills. The winning teams were:

  • Winners:  Aadi Jain, Abhishek Mitra and Preetham Reddy N from National Public School, HSR Layout, Bangalore
  • 1st Runners up: Arvind Kumar, Simaran Vohra and Nandini Khanna  from The Frank Anthony Public School
  • 2nd Runners Up:  Rohin G, Vikas Shankarathota and Rohit Roy from  AECS Magnolia Maaruti Public School

The winning school was awarded a trophy and the winning teams were presented with HP products such as HP VoiceTabs, HP tablets, computing accessories and free yearlong licenses for HP VideoBook.

Since its inception in 1998, more than 8,000 students have participated in the competition across the US, Taiwan and now India. Code Wars was founded by HP to help cultivate student interest in engineering, math and computer science (STEM) in order to develop future technology leaders.
