The round also witnessed participation from angel investors and founders of Indian startups, including Nitin Gupta (Uni Chief Executive), Maninder Gulati (Global Chief Strategy Officer at OYO), Gaurav Munjal (CEO of Unacademy), Kunal Shah (CEO of Cred), among others.

According to a press statement, the Hyderabad-based startup plans to use the fresh capital to scale its live classes across the US, Canada, UK and Middle East as well as to boost hiring across tech and product operations.

Founded in 2020 by the world’s fastest human calculator Neelakantha Bhanu Prakash, Bhanzu aims to eradicate math phobia and encourage careers in math and STEM fields among learners from across the world. The platform is bridging the gap between dreams and competence, by enabling students to realise their full potential and introduce them to science, coding and AI, through the lens of math. The courses are designed in a way that makes students not only proficient in math but also deeply relate to mathematical concepts

Bhnazu’s mission is to impact the lives of millions of children by channeling their curiosity for an unforgettable learning experience.

Speaking about the platform, Founder and CEO of Bhanzu, Neelakantha Bhanu Prakash, said,

“My journey in becoming the world’s fastest human calculator has not stopped with me winning awards, breaking records, or doing stage shows. Having spent more than four years teaching math across the world, I have realised that building strong relevance and sparking curiosity in students leads to unprecedented learning outcomes.”

Prakash, further added:

“Bhanzu has already helped thousands of students realise their true potential. We are on our pathway to achieve the same, a global scale by questioning the very first principles of how students learn, perceive and apply math in the world around them.”

Commenting on the funding, Vice president of Lightspeed, Shuvi Srivastava, added:

“We are very excited to partner with Bhanzu in his mission to revolutionise math education. We have been awed by his journey from being a math enthusiast and educator to an entrepreneur and are proud backers of his vision to rethink how kids across the globe learn math.”

Since its inception, the startup has clocked over a million teaching hours across a base of over 30,000 students.
