To impart outcome-driven and high-quality skill training to youth and to empower them to be catalysts in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047, the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), in collaboration with Ethnotech Academic Solutions, Bengaluru, recently unveiled the Centre for Future Skills in Kalaburagi, Karnataka. The event chief guests were Subhas Sarkar, Minister of State for Higher Education, Government of India, and Umesh Jadhav, Member of Parliament.

According to a statement issued by NSDC, by combining traditional education with new-age learning, the platform hopes to bridge the skill gap and enhance internship and employability prospects in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The platform fosters a conducive environment for acquiring new-age skills and enables individuals to gain global recognition for their skills and receive certification in their chosen fields.

Speaking about the latest move, Subhas Sarkar, Minister of State for Higher Education, said:

The inauguration of the NSDC’s Centre for Future Skills marks a significant stride in advancing skill development and education in our nation. These skill development centres, focusing on cutting-edge technologies, are instrumental in preparing the youth for future work that aligns seamlessly with the visionary goal of the Hon’ble Prime Minister to position India as the global hub of skilled human resources.

The gathering was also addressed by Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO, NSDC and MD, NSDC International; Dr Pratapsinh Desai, President, Indian Society for Technical Information (ISTE); Dr Kiran K Rajanna, Chairman, Ethnotech Group of Companies; Dr Bhimashankar C Bilgundi, President, HKE Society, Kalaburagi; R Velraj, Vice-Chancellor, Anna University, Chennai; Prof (Dr) Buta Singh Sidhu, Vice-Chancellor, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, Bathinda; and Dr SN Singh, Director, Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management, Gwalior.

Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO, NSDC & MD NSDC International, added:

The rapid pace of technological advancement, characterized by automation, artificial intelligence, data analytics, and the Internet of Things, fundamentally transforms industries and job roles. The escalating demand for skills necessitates equipping youth with capabilities and knowledge in emerging technologies like AI, ML, and Robotics that cater to the evolving needs of the industry and seamlessly align with the vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of making India ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047.

Ethnotech specializes in developing cutting-edge technology labs in educational institutions. It promotes the collaboration between academic institutions and significant technological corporations. The platform trains and certifies students and faculty in cutting-edge technologies while linking qualified students to corporate placement opportunities through its Learning Management System (LMS) Portal. It works in six states: Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Orissa.

The newly established Centre for Future Skills further aims to foster a conducive environment for acquiring new-age skills. It enables individuals to gain global recognition for their skills and receive certification in their chosen fields, as stated by the NSDC.

National Skill Development Corporation strives to foster skill development by speeding up the development of large, high-quality, for-profit vocational institutions. In addition, the organization provides financing to assist with developing scalable and successful vocational training programmes. It catalyzes skill development by providing funds to enterprises, companies, and organizations that offer skill training. NSDC also develops appropriate models for enhancing, supporting, and coordinating private sector initiatives.
