Bangalore, June 11, 2020: Quizizz, an edtech platform that makes learning fun by allowing teachers to turn homework and tests into self-paced games, introduced Indian Language Support to help classrooms in India adapt to remote learning. Teachers in India can now use the Quizizz platform for free and conduct online learning sessions with their students in any Indian Language. Quizizz is supporting 50 million monthly active users globally and has a massive adoption among teachers and schools in the US with one in every two schools being active on the platform. Quizizz has millions of active teachers and 1.5 billion questions are solved by students every month on the platform. The platform is free for the classrooms and one can find millions of quizzes on every subject.

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused schools all over the world to shut down in March 2020 keeping more than 1.2 billion students out of their classrooms. In India alone, an estimated 32 crore learners across the segments of pre-primary, primary, secondary, and tertiary are hit because of countrywide school closures. A large number of students have already transitioned successfully from off-line to online classes by adopting virtual classrooms and various other tools. The adoption of digital technology by schools is transforming the traditional education system in India too. The sudden shift due to the nationwide lockdown is not only limited to private schools but even a number of government schools have started running online classes.

Quizizz platform allows teachers to conduct formative assessments in the class or for distance learning. It combines game-design elements with self-paced questions with instant feedback to help students learn for mastery. Quizzing students has been a popular pedagogical approach used by teachers all around the world. Using the platform, teachers can create their own quiz or choose from millions of quizzes created by other educators. The platform auto grades all the questions and provides insightful analytics for individual students as well as the class as a whole to the teacher, saving them multiple hours each week to focus on providing individual support to their students. The platform covers all aspects of learning with a variety of live modes for the classroom, self-paced homework games, and solo practice for independent student-driven learning.

Quizizz seamlessly integrates with Google Classroom and other LMS. The integration allows a teacher to share an assignment with the entire class with a click of a button. Once students take the assignment their grades are updated automatically to the teacher’s grade book. As per a report by Technavio, the online education market size in India is expected to grow by USD 14.33 billion during 2020-2024. As Indian classrooms turn smarter, Quizizz would be a super effective tool especially for teachers in remote learning environments. Quizizz is extremely easy to use and a teacher can get started without the need for training.

Founded by BITS Pilani alumni Ankit Gupta and Deepak Joy Cheenath in 2015, Bengaluru-based Quizizz has raised 3.5M USD from Nexus Venture Partners and Prime Venture Partners.

“Teachers around the globe have found Quizizz helpful and have made it an integral part of their classrooms. We are bringing our platform to India at a critical time when Indian schools are adjusting to virtual classrooms and remote learning. We added the functionality for Indian languages to support the classrooms in India as they move towards online learning", says Ankit Gupta, CEO & Co-founder, Quizizz.
