Avinash Gehlot, Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, recently announced the ‘School at Home’ (24×7 educational helpline) programme for special school students under the Directorate of Specially Abled Persons in Rajasthan.
The Minister stated that the ‘School at Home’ programme is an inclusive educational initiative that brings school education straight to the homes of children and underprivileged students who do not have access to the internet or smartphones. He added that the facilities, co-curricular educational programmes, and online classes would be available to students in classes 1 to 12.
Gehlot further stated that this facility would be provided 24×7 at home. “It also includes a missed call facility to connect with Divyangjan/poor students across the country easily,” he added. The Minister further said that the programme’s benefits can be acquired by calling the toll-free number 011-41212300. Earlier, under the Minister’s chairmanship, a meeting was held at Ambedkar Bhawan with representatives from various sections of society to ensure better operation, improvement, and suggestions for the department’s schemes for scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, and other backward classes.
In September 2023, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot announced several e-education initiatives, including robotics labs in 300 schools and the ‘school after school’ plan for extra classes or board students. These labs aimed to provide students with an understanding of the most recent technical sectors. The Chief Minister also introduced the Mission Start Programme and the Rajasthan State Open School Computerisation Programme, both of which involve the implementation of e-classrooms in schools.
Last June, Government schools in Rajasthan announced the launch of ‘Dial Future’, a new initiative that assists students who have passed secondary examinations in selecting appropriate academic streams to meet their career goals. The Education Department was preparing to provide career guidance to students in all senior secondary schools.
