Premier Teachers, a specialist education recruitment company based in Sunderland, has raised a £100K investment to fund the development of its recruitment app.

The company secured the funding from angel investor Gary Dewhurst.

Founded in 2013, Premier Teachers provides teachers and support staff to schools, colleges and academics across the North East of England and beyond. It is run by teachers and provides a very personal service to teachers and schools. The company provides staffing solutions for both permanent and temporary roles, and has teaching assistants, HLTAs, teachers, lecturers and staff for executive and leadership roles.

Premier Teachers aims to provide staff with the right personality and mix of skills and experience to have an immediate impact from day one. The company offers free training, expert advice and support, help with CV, career planning, and more.

Commenting on the funding and explaining the company’s new app, Mike Donnelly, Founder of Premier Teachers, said,

“This £100K investment was absolutely critical as we had taken the product as far as we could and were unable to access the necessary funds to make it a viable product. It is a simple and scalable tech solution to address a nationwide shortage of teachers in a profession that has missed government recruitment targets for secondary school teacher trainees for the seventh year in a row.”

Premier Teachers has developed a technology-based permanent recruitment solution for both teachers and schools. It allows teachers to apply for multiple posts via mobile and schools to securely access the profiles of teachers and support staff looking for permanent or fixed term roles in the North East. The online portal is free and provides cutting-edge technology to enable schools to reduce recruitment costs and save time.

The new app, which is said to be still under development, is set to undergo testing next month and is scheduled to be launched later this summer.

Expressing his excitement and the reason for investing in the company, Gary Dewhurst said,

“I’m excited to be investing in Premier Teachers and its app as it offers a simple solution to ease the chronic shortage of teachers. I have three children in education and have seen first-hand the challenges that both teachers and schools face in recruiting the right people. I value education highly and that is my main motivation behind this investment.”

Premier Teachers also provides details of the latest teaching job vacancies in the North East. Teachers who are looking for a placement in a school, college or nursery in the region can sign up and find their perfect teaching job.
