In India, with schools across the country continue to remain closed, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has stepped up its effort toward learners’ education during the crisis. As part of the fight against the deadly virus and to ensure students continue to learn undisrupted, the CBSE board has recently launched e-content for all subjects on the Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge Sharing app DIKSHA.

The initiative is launched to help students who are now at home as their classes have been suspended due to coronavirus outbreak. For now, the board has made contents for all the subjects from classes 6 to 10 available in the app. The CBSE has also announced the launch on its official Twitter handle.

To access the e-contents, CBSE students can just download DIKSHA app and install it on their Android phone. Select “CBSE Board” from the list on the app. They can also browse for contents subject wise and topic wise. Besides the contents for all subjects, the board has also added subject specific question banks for Creative and Critical Thinking Practice for students of class 7 to class 10 on the app.

CBSE’s e-content strategy is said to be in line with NCERT’s e-Pathshala, which is available on UMANG app and includes e-textbooks for classes 1-12 along with supplementary reading materials. The app interface is available in English, Hindi and Urdu and will soon be available in 22 Indian languages, according to an official statement. It is said that over five crore people have visited the e-Pathshala, as of January 27, 2020.

Needless to mention, DIKSHA is the Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge Sharing app launched to be a repository for digital school textbooks, among other objectives. The DIKSHA platform offers teachers, students and parents engaging learning material relevant to the prescribed school curriculum. To know more about the app, log on to its website www.diksha.gov.in. Meanwhile, several Indian edtech companies have come forward to offer free online classes to students across the country during this difficult situation.
