While deciding your stream in class 10th, you must have heard your parents saying that this choice between science, arts and commerce is something that will define your career after  class 12th.

“Just decide this, and your career path will become clear once you complete your school” is what most students hear while in class 10th.

However, this circle of making career choices repeats itself just two years later. You complete your class 12th, and there you go again – deciding which course or specialization to pick. For instance, if commerce students decide to pursue B. Com, they are again confronted with “n” number of B. Com specializations. All these courses and specializations often make students confused about their career. In such a situation, all they need is proper guidance, complete knowledge and the freedom to choose a course where their passion lies.

 

In this article, we have tried to offer the second requirement for commerce students. Below is an exclusive list of top B. Com specializations that students can pursue to build a successful career. Read on!

B. Com in Economics

This is a three-year undergraduate course where students get to study economics in detail. Some of the other topics included are business environment, macro economics, statistics, public finance and so on.

After completing the course, students can apply diverse job profiles such as Banking and Finance Officer, Auditor, Service Quality Leader, Market Research Analyst or Tax Expert. The average annual starting salary ranges between INR 2.5 and 3.5Lacs.

B.Com in Law

B. Com in law is an integrated course combining the study of commerce and law. This specialized course includes subjects like Finance, Economics and language along with range of law topics to provide a strong base to the students.

As it is a unique course, there are only a few BCom LLB colleges in India. Top ones like UPES conduct their own entrance exams to select students. If you wish to take admission in B.Com LLB colleges, explore their websites and read the eligibility criteria carefully. Job profiles for which B. Com in Law graduates can apply include Attorney General, Assistant Advisor, Law Reporter, Management Accountant, Law Officer and so on.

B.Com in Accounts and Finance

As the name suggests, this course is related to the sectors of accountancy and finance. Students who have a strong hold in mathematics and economics are advised to pursue this course. Some of the topics covered during this course are business communication, business law, wealth management, international finance, cost accounting among others.

Students with this degree can become Marketing Manager, Corporate Analyst, Operations Manager, Market Analyst, Investment Analyst, Risk Analyst, Investment Banker and other such. The average pay scale can vary from 3 to 6 lakhs per annum depending on the college and job profile.

B.Com in Marketing

This BBA specialisation emphasizes on training students in different techniques of managing and planning for marketing. During the course, the students are encouraged to boost their critical thinking through practical marketing principles, examples and case studies. This develops their cognitive abilities and helps them in developing marketing strategies for their organization.

Some of the jobs you can take after B. Com in Marketing are Trademark manager, Market development manager, Distribution manager, Research project manager, Marketing manager, Retail or wholesale manager among others.

B.Com in Tourism and Travel Management

Over the years, the travel industry has witnessed a drastic growth, and that is why more and more students are pursuing courses related to this industry. A B. Com in Tourism and Travel Industry, thus, comes as a fantastic opportunity for commerce students who have a passion for travel. Some of the subjects that are covered in this course are tourism business, corporate communication, international business, financial management, tourism products, etc.

As far as job opportunities are concerned, graduates can apply for profiles like travel executive, travel sales consultant, tourism trainer and travel content writer as well.

 

Deciding an undergraduate course specialization is a big deal for it gives a definite direction to the career. Thus, take all your time and read about the BBA specialization before applying for the admission.
