HirePro, a leading provider of recruitment automation and assessment solutions to companies, educational institutions, and governments, recently released a report stating that 63% of Indian colleges are proactively preparing for an AI-driven future by incorporating multiple strategic steps into their approach. The study highlights that colleges are focusing on immediate job-ready skills and positioning themselves to lead the way in preparing students for future AI-led industries.

The research surveyed over 20,000 students and 350+ colleges, revealing that 40% of institutions are enhancing their curriculum to include AI-related subjects and disciplines. Additionally, 27% of colleges collaborate with tech giants for research-based projects and learning, strengthening ties between academia and the industry.

According to the report, specialized academic courses are also on the rise, with 17% of schools providing undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in AI, Machine Learning, and Data Science, ensuring that students obtain thorough technical knowledge. The study further shows that 13% of colleges offer certificate courses tailored to AI-related fields, while 7% are working to raise awareness about AI’s impact on the future of work. Interestingly, only 3% of colleges have gone the extra mile to establish Centres of Excellence (COE) or AI labs, underlining the need for more investment in infrastructure that can drive innovation and practical learning.

This report reflects the shifting priorities within higher education as institutions take meaningful strides towards ensuring that students are not only prepared for today’s jobs but also equipped to thrive in a future increasingly dominated by AI technologies.
