The study highlights a wide range of skill opportunities for women. Web Development, Digital Marketing, and Advanced Excel are the most popular courses, accounting for 14%, 11%, and 7% of enrollments in the previous year, respectively. Furthermore, courses such as Programming with Python, General Aptitude, Financial Modeling and Valuation, Data Science, Human Resource Management, Machine Learning, and UI/UX Design are popular among female students, demonstrating various skill sets.

The following are the report’s key learnings:

Insightful Analysis of Women’s Engagement in Online Skilling Courses

An insightful analysis of the factors driving women’s pursuit of online skilling courses reveals distinct objectives. While 52% aim to enhance their employability prospects by seeking internships or job opportunities, 32% are fueled by a desire to acquire new skills and stay abreast of industry advancements. Moreover, 9% enroll in courses to obtain certification to validate their abilities and competencies in the competitive job market.

Significant Geographical Distribution of Women Participants

According to the findings, there is a substantial geographical distribution of female participation. Tier-1 cities with the highest enrollment rates include Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Pune, Kolkata, and Chennai. However, a notable trend emerges: 59% of women participating in skill training come from tier 2 and tier 3 cities, emphasizing the accessibility to skilling opportunities provided by online learning in urban and rural landscapes.

Women’s Unwavering Commitment to Personal and Professional Development

Notably, the research demonstrates a surge in women’s enrollment throughout the summer months of May, June, and July. This trend represents a proactive utilization of leisure time for self-improvement and skill enhancement, highlighting women’s steadfast commitment to personal and professional growth. In addition, the completion rate of online training among women was 50.4%, with an average of 43 minutes spent on e-learning per day.

Sarvesh Agrawal, Founder and CEO of Internshala Trainings, highlighted the release of the learning trends report on women e-learners, saying:

The significant increase in women pursuing online certification courses proves their unwavering commitment to personal and professional growth. Women actively recognize the value of lifelong learning to keep up with rapidly advancing industry demands. Witnessing their determination to acquire new skills, adapt to technological advancements, and evolve work-specific skills is inspiring.
