Today, students across the country want the latest technology to be integrated into the education system.

It wasn’t too long ago when technology in the classroom just meant a PPT on a projector screen.

But nowadays the ideal classroom should be able to facilitate teacher and student collaboration without wasting time on connecting and disconnecting cables. Therefore, wireless sharing of content is the need of the hour at schools and institutions.

Say ‘hi’ to BYOD (Bring Your Own Device)

One look at the Google Trends data for the keyword “BYOD in Education” and you know something is changing in education.

byod-stats

Bradford Networks conducted an ‘Impact of BYOD on Education’ survey covering more than 500 IT professionals from universities across the US and UK. Here is what they found.

89% stated they allow students to use their own devices on campus networks

84% schools who do not currently allow BYOD stated that they receive frequent requests from students and faculty.

With respect to India, enterprising professors and new universities are adopting this change. Examples include not just YouTube videos but also collaboration using social media tools like Instagram and office productivity tools like Google Sheets. Students seem to have a natural affinity for such methods.

BYOD Classroom Projectors are here

Most classroom projectors are for display only. BYOD capabilities require a different set of technological requirements.

BenQ projectors have demonstrated market leadership in making the latest BYOD features available. Apart from wired MHL support, BenQ education projectors are ready for BYOD collaboration and creating more engaging lessons via QCast wireless dongle that allows up to 4 participants to stream content from smart devices or computers to the big screen, displaying them in 4 split screens. Users can also capture live photos upload and download files directly from iTunes®, Dropbox, or their email accounts. These features hold potential to encourage more participation from students, thereby impacting learning outcomes. Let us look at some of the benefits from BenQ classroom projectors.

Student engagement – BYOD encourages students to engage in daily lectures and also prompt the ‘shy’ students to participate. By igniting more interest, students understand concepts better and faster, and may no longer need individual help from professors. Because of increased communication, collaboration (peer learning) and full access to their dear devices, student learning accelerates.

Professor student partnership – Professors can stream and share content too, thus making lectures fun. Further professors can share notes and assignments using tools such as Google Docs and DropBox, thus bonding with students.

BYOD Projectors for Education

For the reasons discussed till now, educational institutions are adding BYOD Projectors to the buying list. That may not be enough. Educational institutions looking to invest into BYOD projectors have to ensure the BYOD projectors are dustproof, too. Dust and air pollution continues to be a concern in India. In June 2018, all of North India felt the impact of dust storms for 3 days continuously. Dust is a known projector killer.

Dust accumulation causes projector image blemish, heating, brightness and color decay and even breakdown. So, when implementing BYOD initiatives, it is recommended that educational institutions pick BYOD dustproof projectors. This will ensure proper performance at a lower total cost of ownership (TCO)
