Become a Frontrunner of Voice Technology in Education by Participating in the Amazon Alexa Skills Challenge

Digital revolution in education has been on for quite a while now, transforming the way education institutions manage and operate day-to-day processes. It has changed the way teachers teach and students learn in the classroom or even at home. While the change in the sector keeps happening, AWS is determined to make Indian education stronger. It is inviting Indian EdTech companies to participate in a competition that will prove to be a much-needed boost to the industry.

Amazon Alexa EdTech Skills Challenge is a competition to develop voice technology solutions for education in India. The competition is designed to give companies an opportunity to use their problem-solving abilities & disrupt the Indian Education by demonstrating the best application of voice technology in education.

Indian companies can submit proposals to tackle issues of administrative processes, assessment, teaching practices, and more. The winner gets a chance to win $50,000 in AWS Promotional Credits!

  5. Learning Throughout Life
  1. Innovation
  2. Potential Impact
  3. Execution of Theme
  4. User Experience

Competition Stages:

Application Phase: The application phase of the competition is aimed at encouraging applications for the competition. The phase ends on 15 May 2020. The applicants are required to submit their ideas on the competition website via an application form.
Applicants are not required to develop their proposed Alexa skill during this phase.

Judging Phase 1: During this phase, 5 applicants will be selected by the jury based on the evaluation criteria mentioned above. The finalists will be picked and announced/notified on 28 May 2020.

Judging Phase 2: Between 1 June 2020 to 31 July 2020, all five confirmed finalists will have the opportunity to build and publish an Alexa Skill using the information referenced in their submission. The finalists will also get a chance to demonstrate and present their Alexa Skill in front of a jury at a Virtual Session (date to be decided).
Judged on the criteria mentioned above, one winner will be picked who will receive the Grand Prize of $50,000 in AWS Promotional Credits.
The remaining finalists will be awarded with $10,000 in AWS Promotional Credits.

With increasing number of education institutions adopting innovative technology for teaching and learning, the future looks bright. The Amazon Alexa EdTech Skills Challenge gives the domestic companies an opportunity to become a front runner of the digital revolution in Indian education.
