The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), has signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati, and Rooman Technologies to offer India’s first microcredit advanced certificate courses in new age skills to youth. This strategic alliance will expand the potential of India’s youth in Industry 4.0 and cutting-edge technologies. It aims to create a workforce equipped with the skills and readiness demanded by today’s evolving job market by making India’s premier institute, IIT Guwahati, accessible to the youth.

According to an official statement, the collaboration will transfer earned credits from these initiatives to degree programmes by the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 guidelines. This credit-based curriculum will cover cutting-edge topics such as VLSI, Data Science, AI-ML, Cyber Security, and Cloud Computing. Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO and MD of NSDC International, and Manish Kumar, CEO of Rooman Technologies, signed the MoUs.

In addition, the alliance seeks to strengthen India’s semiconductor industry and improve the skill sets of students enrolled in BTech/BE/BSc/BCA/MCA programs for the VLSI domain. After completing the short-term VLSI programme, students can apply for entry-level positions such as VLSI design engineers, verification engineers, and physical design engineers.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO of NSDC and MD of NSDC International, said:

We, at NSDC, are committed to equipping individuals with the skills needed to excel in today’s dynamic environment. Our collaboration with Rooman Technologies is a progressive step in this endeavour. The initiative will develop a proficient talent pool that meets the demand for skilled professionals in the semiconductor industry while offering tech enthusiasts abundant opportunities to expedite their professional growth and development.

Under the terms of this partnership, all courses will be delivered online through training sessions led by renowned IIT Guwahati faculty. This innovative programme is designed for tech enthusiasts, providing them with the comprehensive knowledge and practical skills required to thrive in the digital age. The cooperation will provide students with global and centralized opportunities to receive advanced training in innovative concepts and techniques and encourage them to explore cutting-edge technologies in India’s Techade.

Rooman Tech worked with the government to provide upskilling and reskilling opportunities for employees and staff. Currently, the company boasts an impressive list of government-sponsored training and vocational courses for graduates and students. It has centres across India that train and employ technicians, operators, and support assistants. It has meticulously designed diverse training services and products to meet the industry’s current networking, software, and hardware requirements. The platform offers certification courses for Cisco, Microsoft, Red Hat, and numerous other technologies. It develops products in the IoT and ERP domains and provides services such as cyber security, data security, and data centre support.
