Oracle and Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC) have embarked on a monumental collaboration, launching a specialized skills development programme under the state’s massive skill enhancement initiative, Naan Mudhalvan. This initiative is set to provide employment-linked skills development training to an astounding number of more than 200,000 students in the state. TNSDC, in partnership with Oracle, is offering Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) training, a significant step in advancing the careers of students in the state.

As part of this transformative skilling initiative, by 2024, over 200,000 youth at various stages of their learning and professional goals will be trained and certified on cutting-edge technologies from Oracle. These include cloud, data science, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and blockchain. Since its inception, this programme has already attracted over 60,000 students from diverse streams in more than 900 colleges across the state, promising a brighter future for their careers.

Speaking about the initiative, Tmt J. Innocent Divya, Managing Director, Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation, said:

Tamil Nadu ranks among one of India’s top 12 states with a growing youth population. As part of our responsibility to provide youth and young professionals with a platform to upskill themselves and achieve their career goals, we launched Naan Mudhalvan. We have already reached 1.3 million students through this initiative. With Oracle, we aim to train over 200,000 of them in new technology skills that could positively impact their future career opportunities.

Teachers and academicians will deliver the training as part of the curriculum on campus. Specific modules will be offered as a digital learning experience through Oracle MyLearn, Oracle’s comprehensive training and enablement platform from Oracle University, used by thousands of trainees worldwide. It will offer rigorous foundational training in cloud technologies, leading to professional-level training, certifications, and additional training that will be individually curated based on learning levels and educational goals. The programme will provide students and professionals with a foundation in cloud computing and a better understanding of other core concepts such as AI, ML, data science or blockchain.

Shailender Kumar, Senior Vice President and Regional Managing Director, Oracle India and NetSuite JAPAC, added:

We are delighted to collaborate with the Tamil Nadu government and significantly contribute to advancing India’s digital economy. Oracle’s Skills Development Initiative is designed to offer solutions to support government institutions, providing candidate training and job placement assistance to ensure the next generation of tech leaders receive the best possible education and support. With Oracle certification recognized as an industry standard for professionals, it enhances knowledge and validates skills sought by employers, thereby improving job prospects and stability.

Oracle University provides access to some of the world’s leading technology experts and practitioners to support cloud technology training and certification worldwide. More than 20 million hours of the University learning content have been viewed by learners globally, and the programme has trained more than 3.1 million Oracle-certified professionals in the global workforce. Oracle India aims to help people see data in new ways, discover insights, and unlock endless possibilities. The platform offers integrated suites of applications plus secure, autonomous infrastructure in the Oracle Cloud.
