Springpod, a leading provider of free virtual work-based learning experiences for students, has recently secured a $2.5 million strategic investment from American Student Assistance® (ASA).

Springpod is a beacon of hope, empowering students to demonstrate their potential through work-based learning experiences and connect with best-fitting employers and universities. The company’s partnerships with governments, universities, and leading brands such as Amazon, Siemens, and Barclays are bridging the gap between education and careers, ensuring every young person can select and secure their brightest future. With over 700,000 students having already benefited from Springpod’s programmes, 22% of whom are eligible for free school meals, 55% from minority backgrounds, and 60% female, the platform is ensuring equitable access to career readiness opportunities with leading employers and universities.

Springpod is not working alone in its mission. The firm is increasingly embedded within the U.K. education system, providing students with free, meaningful opportunities to explore career and course options and gain critical career readiness skills. This is achieved through strategic partnerships with key organizations, including the U.K. Department for Education (DfE), UCAS and the Careers and Enterprise Company, working together to integrate work-based learning at pivotal stages of the student journey.

Commenting on the funding, Sam Hyams, CEO of Springpod, said:

This investment is a pivotal moment for us. The demand for our virtual work experiences has grown significantly, and ASA’s expertise will enable us to deliver our programs to more students on a much larger scale. We look forward to leveraging their leadership in career readiness as we continue to grow.

Springpod’s impact is not limited to the U.K. The company has garnered international interest from leading educational institutions and employers. The startup, set to begin in early 2025, will bring localized content and unique features including an immersive 3D virtual learning environment. This will allow students worldwide to gain valuable skills for the modern workforce.

Rilwan M., Head of Impact Investments at ASA, also commented:

The quality of Springpod’s experiences impressed us deeply. We’re excited to support their efforts in increasing access to invaluable youth work-based learning experiences in the U.S. Far too many young people are graduating from high school without having completed any work-based learning experience needed to help them make informed, confident decisions and navigate a path to postsecondary education and career success. Springpod is perfectly positioned to address this challenge at scale.

ASA, a national U.S. nonprofit organization at the vanguard of improving how children learn about occupations and plan for their futures, recognized the need to enhance access to meaningful work-based learning experiences exceptionally. Following Springpod’s quick development and success in its home market of the United Kingdom, ASA recognized it as a best-in-class option for improving educational and professional pathways for young people in the United States.
