Varkey GEMS Foundation brings The Global Teacher Award. It is an annual one million dollar award given to a super-special teacher. The Global Teacher Prize award is launched to recognize the best teacher of the world who has truly inspired the students as well as communities around them.
The main emphasis of this award is to recognize the valuable contribution of the teacher.
Application for the Global Teacher Award
If you are a teacher/educator who is teaching students in a compulsory setting or between the ages 5-18 then you can apply. Moreover, if you know the teacher who you think deserves the award, you can nominate them.

Criteria for the Global Teacher Prize
Candidates for the esteemed Global Teacher Prize will be judged on basis of rigorous set of standards meant to recognize an extraordinary educator who has actually contributed in the profession.

- Acknowledgment of an educator’s accomplishments in the classroom and beyond from colleagues, pupils, members of the wider community, head-teachers, etc.
- Making students to be worldwide citizens, where they will meet people from many different background, cultures nationalities, and religions.

- Developing and sharing ground-breaking thought leadership that has enhanced access to excellence teaching and education for kids from all backgrounds.

- Achievements outside the classroom that offer well-known and exclusive models of excellence for the profession.

The winner of this award will be picked by the noticeable Global Teacher Prize Academy. The academy consists of journalists, head-teachers, educational experts, tech entrepreneurs, commentators, scientists, public officials and company directors across the globe.
