What is it?

Education data in the cloud is analyzed and presented visually.

What can I do with educational data analytics?

Instant, highly visual analysis using a wealth of cloud data to improve student success.

Educational data tells a story. When it all appears on a dashboard that’s easy to access, design, manage, and secure, these stories reveal a path toward improvement. Data can give us:

  • Trends for resource allocation.
  • Clues about intervention needs for academics and behavioural supports.
  • K12 district performance metrics.
  • The ability to predict outcomes and choose the next steps toward goals.

Who uses educational data analytics?

In terms of tasks, different leaders use educational data analytics to guide their decisions and increase efficiency without sacrificing effectiveness. Think of the primary users in three levels of K12 district leadership.

Teachers use educational data analytics to guide student learning, plan interventions, track student success, and map their upcoming lesson plans.

Principals use educational data analytics to track student success and behaviour, allocate resources, and use predictive analytics to support strategic decisions at the school level.

Superintendents use educational data analytics to make complex decisions about allocating resources and tracking district-level student success trends. District leaders use predictive analytics to support their strategic decisions.

It’s crucial for all of these educators to be able to access all types of relevant educational data beyond pre-made canned reports. Educational data analytics solutions must allow for customization and deeper dives into key variables.

Who sees my data?

Educational data is subject to stringent privacy laws, such as FERPA, COPPA, and HIPAA. For this reason and many others, only those with permission-based roles can view data for students for whom they have a direct educational reason. Educational data analytics are also subject to the same laws regarding data privacy. Even if data is aggregated, it is still sensitive information that is only accessed for valid educational reasons.

Educational data analysis translates district achievements and needs into your own data-driven success story. When the process is highly visual, educators can spend less time working with data while still extracting maximum insight.
