To close the gap in financial literacy, Intuit Inc. (Nasdaq: INTU), the global financial technology platform that makes Intuit TurboTax, Credit Karma, QuickBooks, and Mailchimp, has recently launched Intuit for Education, a new financial literacy programme that provides high school teachers and students with free personal and entrepreneurial finance courses. The programme aims to assist 50 million students in becoming financially literate, capable and confident by 2030.

Intuit for Education provides flexible and interactive courses using real-world tools like TurboTax and QuickBooks. The curriculum covers budgeting, saving, credit management and basic finance. It offers more than 150 hours of customizable content and accessible professional development resources for educators. Students often need help with financial decisions after graduation due to a lack of personal finance knowledge. The company also introduced the Intuit Hour of Finance Challenge, encouraging schools to participate in financial education activities during April.

Dave Zasada, Vice President of Education & Corporate Responsibility, Intuit, commented on the initiative:

Students can make informed financial decisions with personal finance knowledge, jeopardizing their long-term financial success after graduating. We know that financial Education works. Our survey shows that 95% of students who receive financial curriculum at school find it helpful. As an organization that has been powering prosperity globally for 40 years, Intuit recognizes our unique opportunity and aims to help 50 million students become more financially literate, capable, and confident by 2030.

The Intuit Hour of Finance Challenge includes plug-and-play lesson plans based on the Intuit for Education curriculum and an online game designed to teach critical financial concepts such as taxes, credit, and investments. Intuit Prosperity Quest is an interactive online game that makes financial Education fun and relevant for students. This nationwide challenge allows schools to compete against each other to win a celebration worth up to $25,000, $50,000, or $100,000, depending on the school size.

To better understand high school students’ experiences and relationships with personal finances, Intuit surveyed 2,000 US high school students between March 15 and March 25, 2024. According to the report, 95% of students who receive financial Education at school find it helpful, and 85% of all high school students surveyed want it.

Allowing everyone to prosper is the heartbeat of Intuit culture, and the platform never stops working to find innovative ways to make that possible. With approximately 100 million customers worldwide using products such as TurboTax, Credit Karma, QuickBooks, and Mailchimp, the company believes that everyone should have the opportunity to prosper.
